I think it would be better when to send a gift there is an option to type how much to send or even have a slider bar to select how much coins to send as rapidly clicking the plus icon can take quite a while when sending thousands.
When would you send that much might you ask?
Well, in multiplayer. Sometimes a friend is in dire need of money, like to build the Suez canal for example and they are poor, you are rich and wanting quicker access to Asia so you give them the money to build it. Clicking plus takes a very long time to send amounts like this. (Please note, sending money for canals is not the only reason to send someone money).
