Come on Rommel41. Do you know any other game company releasing three different AAR's about their new game/expansion before release date by some beta testers? Your call for more looks a little bit insolent. Maybe you should register your copy of HOI3 first before calling for more AAR's...

I am asking, not demanding. I will wait and see what happens either way. And I think that other's have been calling for a lot more than me. Especially since I normally don't bother with these forums unless I have reservations about a future product or comments on game playability. Tried an AAR, but fell out after I lost the 'fun factor' I remember from HoI 1 and 2.

I do understand your need to have me show you 'proof' that I own this game, but I don't care to go through that. Last game I registered was Ground Control...only to find that my CD-Key had been stolen and my account invalid, after registering! Repeats with BF 1942 and earlier with Myth: The Fallen Lords also made me never bother with it again. Don't trust me? That's your prerogative. Hate on me all you want. I love my HoI and will buy and not register them until they make it so I must to play.

Of course it must be correct to never have any sort of forehand knowledge about a product before a purchase. I suppose we should all blindly pick out our cars and clothes without trying them on or reading consumer reports. I would hope that the generosity might spread to those of the small niche of gaming that HoI3 represents who are willing to pay the price, but wish for some more adequate testing.

Rebuking me for asking for a major part of the expansion to be tested and displayed in a similar manner to the AAR's that are already up and available is somewhat confusing. I suppose I am a bit of a freeloader for not wanting to dive headlong into a $19.99 expansion before knowing how the mechanics I'll be paying for work. HoI3 was a mess when I bought it. Not what I thought my $30 was supposed to fetch. Still play it though and will keep on doing so, but I am not going to go in twice-blinded. Sorry.

Some brave soul has to take the point. Why not you? I'm sure that quite a few people have even pre-ordered SF. That's really taking the initiative. Those of us who pre-order should be given a gold star under our names in the forums.

I hope for your obvious sake that they do give you all a star! Call it the 'Blind Faith' award. I don't seek any aggrandizing of my avatar on the forums, just feedback about the game and it's upcoming expansion(s). Inform me, I will be right there with many other buyers when you have convinced me. If it must come with a tiny icon, so be it. Just help me believe in your unrequited (save for the beta-tester) trust of a game that, "needs no explination!"

P.S.
The "needs no explination!" came from my friend who also plays on his Mac. He was reading some of the posts and thinks people are being un-forthcoming with details reguarding the game and it's 'troubles' (his word). I for one think that these forums are quite valuable and have helped me tackle the supply porblems vis-a-vis the old HoI2 model and discover how to effectively manage brigades, naval forces and air organization. Just hope for a juicy preview of such a feature as 'make supply go away'.

Most of us who have played HOI3 1.4, or read the forums about 1.4 can guess pretty much what the game will play like with the arcade mode turned on.

Germany will not get bogged down due to supply problems in the SU after the first big breakout - this means that the fast tanks and units of the Germans will be able to roll roughshod over the Soviet territory and gains will be much larger. Africa will be easier too...

The supply problems Japan has in China will also most likely be overcome and a stronger Japan could mean more trouble for the allies and SU.

On the other hand, allied invasions can now take place anywhere and stay in supply along the coasts, so a port isn't even necessary for non-fuel using units. Large infantry only attacks could easily be the norm for the AI pouring troops into areas with no need to take a port city if the seas are ruled by them.

If this kind of thing is what you are looking to have verified, then you might wait quite a while. I know that I'm probably never going to turn on the arcade mode, as will most likely most of the rest of the people who would post here with decent, solid information on what they are seeing happening.

Yes, I might someday run a hands-off run with it on, but that would be only after I've completely gone through the new stuff and seen first hand (several times) how the AI is going to deal with me and the new twists and turns that have been put in.

So yes, someone most likely will put up an AAR of an arcade game eventually - just for the vast majority of the posters here, would much rather more versions of it in regular mode be posted so that we can see how much of what is being seen now is due to a particular quirk of a particular set of decisions, and how much we're going to have to deal with the AI seemingly doing certain things badly or the same way all of the time.

Thus far, I'm heartened by the differences in the AARs - yes, hands off, Germany seems to do well in the West (the one where it bogged down for a while, there was an Active allied player helping to slow down the advance).

Even so, these are from different scenarios - so I'm still looking for patterns and consistencies (or better yet inconsistencies) from the AI in how the war goes on from game to game. Hoping that they post some more, not just a couple, to show the variations in the same set up that happen. If someone wants to run one for you on Sunday, more the power to them - I just wouldn't hold my breath for it.

KalZakath brings up the general idea of what a game without supply will probably bring, but what about those fuel consuming units? Will they actually consume fuel? Will a unit's supply still have to be requisitioned and delievered? Will it need supply at all?

I know it's going to make everything easy and pointless (apparently), but will it give the AI a similar edge? I hope so or it really will lose any appeal. I hope to use it for massive wars of 300+ divisions throughout the world. Mostly US vs. German and Soviet vs. Allies. Was wondering if the AI will use it as well as the human player obviously could or will it continue to play relatively conservatively?

I prefer and will play most of my games with the regular supply system, but was wondering if the Arcade mode will play the total basic's or just absolve the player/AI of any supply needs whatsoever? If it is really such a taboo subject I'll let it die here and walk quietly back to my HoI2. Geeze, maybe. I don't know if I can think that far ahead...or at all...

Thanks again to those who said something beyond, 'learn to think for yourself', 'register and we might talk to you' and 'pre-order so you can enjoy what you might get'.

Arcade mode lets all units take supply/fuel from your capital's stockpile directly. You still need to produce supplies/fuel for it.

Arcade mode works for both player and AI at the same rules.

It is too bad that convoys also turned off with this arcade mode.
But i think i will never use it or maybe sometimes just to see what will be.
