Vasquez sat expressionless through most of the briefing, his hand over his mouth. He leaned an elbow on his desk as the General spoke and leaned forward as he listened. When Levarge got to the part about anti-air and anti-tank weapons, as well as the devastating effects of properly deployed military grade explosives, Vasquez's eyebrows arched and he let out a low whistle.
"This guy just gets better and better..." he muttered. "I was working on that isotopes bit before I took this job. I think Minister Tilly has that ball now, but this Doctor Voshkod gets better and better by the day. That explains a lot too. At a particularly charming little crime scene in the hills of Gloriana I found a few dead OSI boys with Eutopian army assault rifles...ah, FN FALs, I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. Tough to buy at your local pharmacy.
As for the minor misallocations of funds and all that, yes, forward whatever you have over and I'll send it to FLEA. I'll get in touch with the President and the MTIA right away and ask them to chat up the Bermudians and the UK about extraditing Per Marine...I believe that's where the evidence pointed him...at least what I've seen so far. I'll put some more FLEA agents on it and see what we can dig up.
Now then, as for the theft of military grade weapons...congratulations, you just gave me my new highest priority. From what I've seen so far, OSI is falling apart at the seams. Dr. Voshkod held that thing together through sheer force of will and terror as near as I can tell, and now that he's gone it's a free-for-all. I do *not* want weapons like those flying around willy-nilly." A thought suddenly occurs to him. "Hell, if they're selling them...that could link this to the Tilapian bombing case that took out Per Vilms.
I've got agents working with OSO on von Vaam, sending some over to work with the Tilapians on Vilms, I'll put some in on Marine, and whatever smaller things you give me for ENDTech. Everything else I have is available for this OSI investigation, and I'll go all in. I'm going to want some help from Tilly's OSO boys if he can spare any agents...the more men I can put in the field, the better. If either you or he have any recommendations at any time, speak up. You both have valuable experience I can learn from.
Now then...the isotopes have been found, or more accurately, found to already have been used and are no longer a player in the equation. So that leaves us looking for...what, Stingers and LAWs, more or less, General? I'll assume a complete description of everything missing is in the report, correct me if I'm wrong. I'll send this to FLEA's director for his review, and send my boys out.
So. What do you think? And is there anything else I should know?"
