The Ministry of Environment and Social Affairs​

In Term X, the MESA moved to the Realm Building in Wolfington, Eutopia City, as the former office had became to small and didn't suffice to the needs of the ministry. The white Realm Tower was originaly build for a software company, but it moved out of the country just before the building was finished. The MESA bought the building, and finished it in record time. Inside, everything is new, but has lost some of it's sparkle, especialy the century old furniture that was drawn from the old office. Now, the people in MESA think of the building as a second home to them.

The new MESA, Jacques Moreau-Dumont, holds office on the 25th floor (formally the 23rd), but can be found all around the building, as well as in the cabinet buildings. Visitors should make an appointment at the MESA secratary's office, or should adress to Jacques' personal secretary, Marie Dubois.

Jacques' personal office is made almost entirely out of Oak or other wood Products, and looks like it's from the 18th Century. He has a sheet of paper on the (Oak again) desk with a feather pen beside it, and a frame reading

sitting behind it. Classical music (Tchaitovksy's 1812 Overture) is blasting out across the room, and some announcements are on a billboard.

If anyone is willing to fill these demanding, yet rewarding posts, could they please contact the Ministry of Environmental and Social Affairs in their Heaquaters at the Realm Building in Eutopia City. You will report directly to Minister Moreau-Dumont in the case of Deputy MESA. That is all.

In the busle of the 20th Floor on MESA, with messengers and employees running in every concievable direction and a huge noise almost eliminating conversation, MESA Moreau-Dumont appears. With his short-sleeve white shirt on and his face Beetroot red from walking through the office, he stands on a chair next to a Photocopier and shouts for quiet. When that doesn't work, he throws several pencils at the people walking, and then can eventually be heard.

Alright, people. ALRIGHT PEOPLE! CAN YOU HEAR ME? Good.

Now, I want a maintainance check on the twelve largest Stadia in Eutopia and see how much it would cost to bring them all up to FIFA standards in time for the next World Cup, if we don't have twelve Football Stadiums, then see how much it would cost to build one.

I also want to see how much a Eutopian Culture/History Festival would cost, and I want to see a list of performers and other stuff being drawn up, perhaps we could get some of those Topans who performed at the Topan Festival in Term 10, maybe even Johnny Black would grace us with a performance?

We are always encouraged to see a voice for latin rights and a champion of the underrepresented peoples of the island succeed in the political arena. A phone call from the St. Espritian embassy.

"Hello?" asks the cheery and incredibly pretty secretary. "Can you hold a minute?" She tends to some business while Ambassador Armand Hamer holds the phone away from his ear, besieged by the 1812 Overture blaring over the phone line. Eventually the secretary picks the phone up again, and Hamer says, "Hello, I was responding to M. le President de Fourgéres' note. Our main stadium in St. Esprit is made with le artificial turf, but FIFA is now permiting artificial turf provided it follows certain regulations. We are now checking that stadium to make sure it fits. But also, we have a couple other stadiums in Fort-aux-Francais which fit handily, and also if I remember correctly we had an American football team...no, that was Chateauvallon. But I imagine you could use all the old football Americaine stadiums for le football easily.

"Also, when you get the chance, please tell M. de Fourgéres that we have a new Socialist government here in St. Esprit. That may interest him no little bit."

Jacques sniffes the wine and pours it into a glass, "Very good, but not the best", he says out loud, and then remembers that he has to go back to the Vineyard this autumn. "No time for that anymore"

He phones the President back

Loic, the St Espiritans phoned, they have their main Stadium which is Aritificial Turf, bringing that up to FIFA Regulations, as well as some other stadia in Fort aux Francias that are fine. It seems that Tilapia and St Espirit can muster several stadia, so we won't be doing this alone.

A fax arrives from the Coast Guard Station at Landfall.

CGS/LANDFALL TO OPS MDIS, OPS MESA, OPS MTIA

At 0330 local M/V Garry Boldwater (Liberian registry, 4500 tons) foundered and sank approx. 30 miles NNE of Landfall. CG cutter Adroit assisted in removal of crew and papers. Injuries to crew minor.

OPS MESA: Manifest of vessel indicated general cargo including nuclear testing equipment CPT University of Neuwestbaden. Paperwork in order for import. Test amounts of radioactives aboard. Other equipment included gas seperation centrifuges, high end measuring gauges, similar equipment. Given water depth, environmental damage is judged to be minimal to none. Please advise.
