Even if they're offering you 5 of your core provinces in trade, and the province they're offering to buy is one of their core provinces? I think "never" is a little strong. Rather, the AI should compute its monthly income before and after the trade, and then add a modifier based on the net number of cores gained, probably specified in the AI file so we can tinker with it.

I think you misunderstood slighty. If they offer me one of MY cores for one of THEIRS, its different. What i meant was, there is no reason at all why Austria, for example, would accept a trade for salzburg, or no reason why france would accept a trade for provence.

Take my province-- PLEASE

Also, "Abandon province" should be an option. Most recently I was playing Austria and, upon inheriting Bohemia, got some Orthodox Christian provinces-- including Kola next to Russia-- that I didn't want because I wanted to set minimum relgious tolerances for Muslim and Orthodox so I could keep my Catholics, Protestants, and Reform Christians happy.

Ruthenia and Carpathia finally revolted and defected to Poland. The rebels must have thought it strange that Austrians were teaching them Polish, pointing emphatically at Poland, and passing out black-and-red Rebel Scum flags :D but there ought to be a better way of getting rid of unwanted provinces.

It's easy to envision trading provinces too. Suppose Poland has an Orthodox Christian province and Russia a Catholic one; it should be fairly easy to trade these.

Trading provinces can be very funny , if anyone has played Superpower II this was a cool feature , i once bought half of lybia as brazil just for the oil of it .
There must be of course a limit of what AI/player can sell , core provinces should not be offered and (mainly AI) must have a base limit like a 2 province nation can not sell one of its provinces.

There's a nifty way for Austria to get the Balkans from Turkey in Victoria without having to fight the Turks.

(1) Improve your relations with the Ottoman Empire to the point where the Sultan will entertain diplomatic proposals.
(2) Declare war on Egypt and grab as many provinces as you can. It's a lot easier to fight the Egyptians than the Turks.
(3) Arab provinces are compatible with Turkish culture and factories can be built there. The Ottoman Empire will trade Balkan provinces for Egyptian ones! :D

Come to think of it, I wonder if the AI-controlled Ottoman Empire would sell the Russians the shovels with which to bury it by trading Tirane, Bucharest, and (I think) Varna for Egypt, thus requiring Russia to capture only Constantinople and Belgrade to get the "Tsar of all the Slavs" event. :D I recall buying Belgrade from Austria for exactly this purpose.

The same thing could, of course, apply in EU III as well if you capture a province you definitely don't need or want but an ally or even a neutral third party can use. Unprofitable provinces or colonies that run up your stability costs while contributing little or nothing to your economy should definitely be traded away if possible.

While I do support this idea, IMO many of the arguments given for it seem to me to center around making life easier for the player. The game is already too imbalanced against the AI, to that degree, I have real reservations.
