Selfish Crusader?

So I've got 60 years to kick the HRE out of England, I'm emperor of brittania and can field roughly 29k to the kaisers 72k. A crusade is firing in 400 days, I made the maximum donation, each crusade my beneficiary has been granted a kingdom: England, Jerusalem twice, Finland and one other place.

Anyway, the crusade is against that guy who is Sultan of everything from Egypt to Anatolia. I need to be able to field/afford 40,000 more men for what is likely to be a protracted war against the Kaiser in the next 40 years.

Whats my best option? The ducs in the war chest or the possible Kingdom in Africa? This will probably be my last shot at a big influx of territory or ducs

If you have a high contribution and many people donate to the war-chest you can often times profit from the crusades. I would recommend joining the crusade for the monetary benefits to hire mercs, which, provided you can pay for them, should give you the numbers you need. To beat them out of Britain you aren't going to need more than he does since he'll probably split up into two stacks (so that he can ship them over and so that they don't take stupid amounts of attrition). If you attack him when he is suffering a civil war that's just even better, and remember: the war goal is what matters, if the wargoal is in England you can just capture it and wait for the kaiser to attack you because of ticking warscore. Thats what I'm going to do, I'm highest contributor to the crusade so my share is 10k plus right now, with the WS at 64 percent.

I feel like the money will far outweigh the five or six African provinces in value considering the timr time I have left.

Well I got 15k, so that's good. My beneficiary got Africa, so Im not sure if that's worse.

The battles matter more. And if you are there with strong armies the AI will follow you as ling as you dont risk stupid attrition. So move along coastal provinces. But it is important that you start the battles, so commamder with increased movement speed would be a good choice.

Win 2 or 3 major battles and you are Nr1.
