I am relatively noob at this game and came back to it after a few months and the whole sector/planet management seems very tedious.

In the mid game when I have around 25-30 planets, I need to manually click on each planet to manage it, and this process has to be repeated every few minutes. I remember I could just let entire sector be managed by AI but it doesn't seem possible now. Now it seems I have to manually give individual sectors resources for them to start building things which again has to be repeated quite often.

Is there any way to better automate it, am I missing something here? May be micromanaging it is more efficient but I still would prefer some automation.
