So far in the Blorg stream we've seen a mineral focus in the Friend Zone eventually lead to an energy deficit which had to be fixed by changing them to a finance focus and dumping minerals on them, and we've seen the Party Zone and VIP Zones develop similar issues. (Mineral standstill I think.)

It seems to me from the descriptions we've seen and stuff that Science would be the logical 'balanced' focus, but then we don't know for sure if that causes them to ignore planetary resource tiles and build over them with science buildings, which would be wasteful. Military seems to state that it's explicitly balanced but it also then builds military stations which you may not want/need to be the major focus for a 'safe' sector.

I don't know, I just feel like the economic focuses should still be able to maintain a safeguard balance which they don't appear to be able to do reliably right now.

It's partially due to their number of planets, and resources present within the sectors that the have these issues, but yeah some optimization is certainly still in order, (I'd like a slider to tell them how much they can go over/into their focus, with a slider for auto funding to make up for it, but that's alot of work for the devs)

I am actually somewhat curious about what happens to a sector that is so far into the red that if this was EU4 you would automatically take out a loan.
And if this happens what are repercussions of it? Does that sector just get a temporary happiness hit to all planets in it until they get in the green again.
But as for the original topic yeah some more optimizations about sector decision making may be in order to ensure that sectors are at least somewhat self-sustaining.
