Hello dear readers,

Here are some suggestions of mine for the secret tech units and the vanguard.

Let's start with the Vanguard:

As they are now they are very bland, underpowered and uninteresting in my opinion. I guess it was the first faction created and that the creative energy just skyrocketed with the other races.

Ma biggest problem with the Vanguard is that they have too many important units and upgrades that do have the wrong weapon type. The Vanguard have firearms and lasers, nice and good, but why does the upgraded turret from the mechanic, their supposed artillery-unit the walker and the infnatry-upgrade have to shoot rockets and why do the the troopers throw grenades with explosion damage?

Too many explosions that cannot benefit from the tech-tree at all. This is a great missed opportunity in my opinion. I would suggest:

Shrapnel Grenades for Troopers: Work the same way, but the direct damage profits from firearms-tech (exept rail accelerators for more range). A grenade that shoots projectiles in every direction that profits from any firearms mod equipped.

Laser-Barrage from Walker: Just ditch the rockets and give him some laser-cannons that do laser-damage in an area 9 hexes away. Then you have a nice artillery unit.

Shrapnel-Mortar for tech: Instead of the rocket-Turret, make it a mortar that shoots shrapnel grenades in an arc, same properties as grenades above.

Shoulder-Laser-Upgrade: Instead of the rocket-launcher for infantry, make it laser-themed. A laser blast that explodes in an area or a number of smaller laser shots that hit units in the chosen area.

Additional i would love an upgrade that equips troopers with a grenade-launcher to increase the throwing range a little. I think that would add a nice touch to the "war-hardened-veteran"-feeling of the Vanguard.

And now to the secret techs:

As stated above, i think the Vanguard are way to bland in case of secret techs. They have no special secret-tech-units at all.

Amazon Promethian shoot in an arc and ignore cover,
D'Var Promethian can fortify
Vanguard Promethian... nothing

Amazon Celestian flies,
Kir'Ko Celestian goes into frenzy
Vanguard Celestian... nothing

I hope you get what I mean. Why not equip every first tier secret-tech-unit for the Vanguard with a special type of grenade (exept xenoplague)? Promethian with incinery grenade, celestian and psynumbra with a.. whatchmacallit? The little pyramid-thingies for second weapon equip etc. Just a grenade that fits with the tech.

And here is my last suggestion:

Make every secret-tech-unit special.

This mostly applies to the late-tier-units because the early-tier units are already pretty unique for every race (exept Vanguard). For example: Why would a race as nature-loving as the amazons built a promethian tank? Or why should a biological race like the Kir'Ko built a mechanical unit like the Rift Generator?

These races have no synergy with mechanical units, so why should they produce them? Strap the weapons of a purifier on a Tyrranodon instead. BOOM, Fire shooting meelee Tyrannosaurus equals: EPIC! How about an Aroberan Queen wit a built in supercomuputer that hosts an Synthesis avatar? A Kir'Ko Engulfer wit a strapped-on Rift Generator?

Just small changes in these Units would make a big difference in the feeling of the races. As it is now, these units just feel out of place and artificially forced on the races, in my opinion.

Yeah, these are my suggestions, let me read what you think of them.
