Remember, one or both of them may be Fascists attempting to deceive the group.

The Hahnel Presidency started in earnest in December 1924. While there were immediate worries that this change in power would prove to destabilize Germany and bring the country closer to fascism, these fears became quickly unfounded, as the premier focus of the government seemed to be national stability, enacting new laws that would stop coups like the one tried in Munich by a young fascist named Adolf Hitler in 1923. This was applauded by the intellectual community as the beginning of a new era for the young German Republic, and a powerful new symbol for the world.

Hahnel's presidency turned sour, however, when several members of his coalition were emboldened by new support from the lower and middle classes, and a vote of no confidence held in May succeeded in breaking the new government. In the new power vacuum, young up-and-comer Leopold Mauss came in to fill the void, and he was the popular favorite to win the next election.
