I would like to changes to the combat system, but if anything, occupying land should be far less important and the game should allow far more focused, single stack army movement... so basically, I would like to see the supply limits done away with or at least raised a lot, then a tech and railways based supply distance instead... where from a certain distance on, food and weapon supplies drop which results in gradually lowered combat efficiency... where occupying provinces will result in lengthening the supply distance, but is generally much less necessary... and where most wars are decided by a single army vs army battle, or two or three of those army vs army battles at most... taking over the capital of the enemy should almost always be decisive, unless the opponent has a significantly larger army in reserve... and of course, the AI should be trained to intercept any army in full force if it seems to head towards the capital so the major battle is accomplished as soon as possible.
Rebellions I would like to see changed... my greatest irritation is how when you fight a war with the AI, and its going well and you are occupying a lot of land, you will soon find yourself fighting hoardes of communist, reactionary, etc rebellions... every year. It doesn't make much sense... either give us rebellions of nationalists trying to liberate their land and join the regular army as irregulars, give us seperatist rebellions that try to use the occupation to carve out their own nation, or let those cause rebellions only happen on territory actually owned by the losing country.
