oh, thats looking just fantastic!
domestics are in again! minor alliances! open negotiations in diplo! and interface seems gathering more options!

i just came up with idea, how about to make some covert operations? f.e to make some intellgence points, i mean there are tons of uses for them - to see more troops on map, to know what rivals researching and what troops producing, to steal those techs and sabotaging some major construction, army or ic, or better to assasinate one of those ugly faces right in diplo screen :D, i mean coup is when you killing or imprisoning all of them, btw now i wonder how will be calculated cost of such action if there wont be influence points?

EDIT: Just realized the "fading" flag in the upper left appears to have all 50 stars.
Good call. While we are on the subject of the fading flag, I must say that I like the look. It was one of the first improvements that struck me with the first screenie too.

I really, really, really like the new sliders. The diplomatic/domestic systems in the game look to be a lot more fleshed out this time.

Well I don't get to check here for a day and look what happens ;)

The interfaces in this game are just so incredibly good... Never seen it this good in Strategy games (or most other games for that matter) :)

Figures it comes from Johan and Paradox :)

Wow, I'm very impressed, this is the sort of screen shot that I was looking for. It tells so much... statistics... minister pictures and sliders... I'm very glad you can see these for every nation.

And a new type of IC and DI changed to something else

:) I have to say, this new screenshot brings up more questions than it answers!

Minor alliances please me immensely. An otherwise deeper diplomacy pleases me almost as much and domestic policy sliders perhaps moreso.

An industrial capacity number, which might imply that a modified Victoria factory system will not be present instead of the old HoI system, makes me very sad.

lol I so got to try and get into the Beta for HoI2 lol :D its jsut looking better and better...

I like the bit on the right hand side of the screenie which is the Diplomatic screen and it says, (Non-aggression pact) now this is a nice option and I hope that the AI will keep to this pact unless it breaks it for some reason lol.

Is it safe to assume the government types under the nation name(Social Liberal, Stalinist, etc.) are tied to what your slider choices are? And how many government types are in this game, more than the nine of HOI? Have you finalized which ones you are going to use?

Just some questions that popped into my head as I was drooling at the thought of sliders.

So the sliders affect your own country or how you're coming off as to the country you're dealing with?

There is one slider called democratic - anti-democratic and another one freedom - oppression. How is the difference simulated in the game?

Could you give an example of a democratic country with oppression and another example of a country that is anti-democratic with freedom.

Small remarks: I think totalitarian sounds better than anti-democratic, but it depends what effect the slider has in the game. Also I have never liked the font in HoI.

Nazi Germany in the Jan-July 1933 period could be an example of democracy with opression (although Hitler was moving his democracy slider to the right as soon as he was allowed to :D)

The Spanish Republic on the later phases in the Civil War could be considered a democracy with opression (although this was mostly because of the chaos than a government policy)

It's out of the timeline, but some European WWI-era monarchies were rather free nations (for the era standards)

Also, you have to think this as relative values. Both Italy and Germany were anti-democratic and opressive, but Nazi Germany was arguably more opressive than Italy. Separate sliders help represent that.

At it's core, "democracy" just means the ability of the subjects to change his government. Theoretically, they can elect one that limits their freedoms, as long as they remain able to de-elect it later.
