Will there be a special version of the game where you pay more in order to get future expansions or will it just be a standard edition?

And if you don't like season passes and deluxe editions, don't buy it!
This is an insanely poor argument for anything that has an overarching effect on game design or the development process. And DLC/expansion/support policy most certainly does.
Furthermore, when you say you'd be happy to pay for a season pass, do you really mean you're ready to pay 100€ or so for the game and all upcoming DLC even if Paradox decides that the game isn't going to be viable for future expansions and decides to develop other games instead of HoI 4 content? Or would you prefer, in that case, for them to push mediocre content because they're obliged to because of the season pass model? As a season pass buyer I'd be riled up and on the barricades in either case. As a customer in the current model the first outcome would be ok, and the second one just worth a facepalm and moving on to better game companies.
If I will be able to choose, yes I would. If i wont, I don't mind. I know Paradox delivers, heck I would buy even if they don't. But judging from their previous hundreds of DLCs, I don't think it can't get less good, but just better. I trust them, and if given the choice, would buy a season pass. Because I end up buying DLCs that aren't even good rated, because I'm just a collector i guess. But hey, that's me!
Then we get rushed expansions, because development takes time. Rushed expansions are mediocre garbage for anyone, not just you, which is why "but it's just an option" argument is invalid.
Well it isnt totally INVALID, I still like my tshirts and misc souvenirs, but yes I wouldn't prefer rushed DLCs. That is true.
Edit: But as said, if there's is a deluxe edition, nice. If there isnt, fine. Whatever
I fail to see how t-shirts fall into the category of "something that has an overarching effect on game design or development process".
Also, aren't deluxe editions typically bundles sold after all the relevant content is released? That's very different from selling stuff before it's done.
The problem, as I see it, is that it is very difficult and expensive to buy the complete package of the baseline game + expansions. Take EUIV. I played the demo, and enjoyed watching the Developer multiplayer sessions. I know if I buy it, I'm gonna enjoy it and play many hours. But then I don't just want the baseline game (which is reasonable enough in price), I'd like to have the complete experience with all the major DLC's. I checked now, and the cheapest way to get the game is to buy the EUIV collection + the 3 newest DLC's. And all the DLC's have a "content pack" as well, which is confusing... The price for all that is 133 USD. (and then you're still missing some graphic and sound DLC's, but I don't care about that). The point being - there should always be an updated complete pack of the PDX-games that you can buy, to make it less confusing for newcomers. And, in my opinion, this pack should cost less than 133 USD. Games shouldn't only be for people with a high, steady income, but also for high school students etc. Anyway, I know photoshop is expensive too, but that's a tool you can make a lot of money out of if you are skilled.
