I somewhat disagree with the basic "plot" you have planned for scenario. If it's negotiable we can discuss this with PM.

Secondly, I think the timeline should be shorter. It's almost impossible to accurately predict what the world looks like in 2020 (tech, units, etc.).

Of course it's negotiable. Just send me a PM and say what you want.

The timeline could be shorter, but only a few years.

Um... I'm already working on this. Remember, we talked about it in another thread?
Currently the breakdown is as follows:

Map - 98% complete
Provinces - 0%
Nation OOBs - 10%
Events - 1%
Tech - 0%
Leaders - 0%
Ministers - 0%
Graphics - 5%
Histories and other text modifications - 15%

It would be extremely impractical for me to send you everything I have, but if anybody wants to help, just talk to me. ;)

The timeline is CURRENTLY from 2001-2014. (It's a single scenario, there's no point to making three different scenarios.) The timeline is subject to change though; we might make it longer. Basically, the event that sets the world toward war is September 11th (hence the start in 2001).

The map is now 100% complete.

I would like the scenario starting from 1980's, eg. 1985, and continue to max 2015. It would have a 30 year timeline, which is more than adequate, and you wouldn't have to make up so abstract plots; cold war was still on in 1985...

IMO there are two options for good "alliance sets", depending on the start date:

1) cold war / post cold war
- NATO or some other US led alliance that would also include Japan, South Korea and Taiwan
- Warsaw Pact / Soviet Union
- a Chinese led communist alliance that would include eg. Vietnam and North Korea

2) present
- European Union
- Non-EU NATO (only NATO members outside EU) or US loyalist NATO (also including some EU members like UK, that are more loyal to US than to France/Germany led EU)
- Arab League

Potential major countries in both cases could include United States, Great Britain, France, Germany, Russia and China.

The current alliance set up is as follows:

The Coalition - United States, Spain and Britain (others can join)

The Allies - France, Germany, and Russia (others can join)

A Chinese led alliance, which is currently unnamed, possibly the 4th International- Communist China, possibly North Korea and Vietnam.

As to when the mod will be finished, I have no clue. I work on it irregularly, I have other things to do too after all. ;) It'll be done when it's done. Right now I'm programming some events, and it's looking nice. Atheose (the other modder, he doesn't post here) is doing a lot of research right now, so once we get all the information we need, we'll be able to start going faster...

I think the Coalition should include also at least Japan and Australia, maybe also Poland and Denmark.

No, it's not completed. You can do the map. I would love it. But now it's a new mod. But still in the modern day, but concentrated on WW3. Then I can concentrate on the scripting.

Exel, in the game, they probably will. ;) This is only how the alliances START. For instance, in the real Hearts of Iron game, the Axis begins with only Germany, but Italy and Japan usually join, and sometimes Spain and Argentina and other nations.

And about Japan: I'm debating what to do about them, because their constitution forbids them to engage in military conflict. This is basically because America didn't want to deal with a militarized Japan, ever, ever again. ;) In the mod, they will most likely appear as a puppet nation of the United States, or possibly a weak nation rich in industry and resources that is very closely affiliated with the USA.

We're trying to make this as accurate as possible to conditions today (at least in the beginning), which is why we're doing so much current events research.

What are you talking about, Merlin?
