What are sea provinces used for? Is there a mechanic to the game that relies on them rather then on sea-zones?

We know that naval missions are carried out in sea--zones. Is there something else?

i am not sure what you mean with sea provinces.
The smaller Areas inside sea regions. There are borders inside the regions where you assign missions to. And you can select These provinces individually. But I have yet so see a game mechanic that works on this Level, rather than on sea Region level.

Me either, hence one of my questions in a DD and a few other places is if I have an ongoing battle in a province on land next to a sea province will I only get Shore Bombardment while the animation is in the sea province next to the land province because they do wonder about do to the size of the Sea Region's. So I would think if your attacking say Guam from the ocean you would want your navy or A navy focused just in the province the marines are landing from or something to that affect.

Sea provinces are used in the same way as provinces are for the army. Ships are always located in a province (this don't mean that any enemy ships will be attacked because they have to be detected). But ships in differen't locations will never attack each other.

So you mean that when I assign, e.g. a search and destroy Mission on a sea Region, the ships will actually move from province to province and physically be in a defined province at any given time? I understood the System differently, i.e. that naval missions only work on Region Level and the Chance to find the enemy is NOT the Chance to be in the same province but based on other values.

Yes ships will move between provinces. So two navies can for example miss each other. It can be expecially important if you micro your ships to key locations.

Could you point out a WWW where this is shown? Until now, I have only seen Region-wise missions (and the graphical representation which also works on Region-Level).
You can see how each combat take place in provinces. Another important thing show in the latest stream is if the zone is on the edge of your ships operational range you can not reach all provinces (they are colored red) so enemy ships could actually be safe if they are in one of those red provinces.

Now I see what you mean. The game uses the provinces internally to allocate Events to the map. That's true.

I was more going towards the possibility of the player to work with the provinces. But yeah, this range issue is important to notice.

A thing you could do if you have a weaker navy so you can not win naval superiority is to patroll your ports to punish an enemy who try to do naval invasions as much as possible.
