I want to send my 1911 of my vassal's troops on Sjaelland and 1431 of my troops on Fyn to the pagan land of Rostock and Mecklenburg to take possession of them.

I mobilize the troops, click to get their gold bases to appear and then following the manual, I right click on Rostock and nothing happens. If I just right click on Fyn's regiment I can a window telling me the cost, I accept, my gold disappears and nothing happens. Did I not say, "Permission to board?" or something?

Have you declared war first?? ... you cannot move troops to a pagan province unless you are at war (with any pagan ruler). Once you declare war on Rostock, f.x., you can move troops thrugh any pagan territory. But as long as you are not at war with any pagan, their lands are off limits for your troops.

Btw ... have you applied the latest beta patch for DV?? ... it should fix any weird behaviour you might experience. You can get the patch here: http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?t=331766

I never have encountered that problem, so I can't help you there. However if you do manage to get your troops to board, do not give them other orders until they are in the boat. I used to give my troops the order to ship when they were still well in the middle of my lands. However when an enemy army showes up and you have to divert your army, they will no longer ship and your gold will be lost.

Also a helpful tip if you want to perform a surprise attack on a distant ruler by sea: the cost in gold of transporting your troops, is calculated by the number of sea squares traveled through and the amount of troops in your army. Travel by ship to a province in the same sea square as your target. When you arive in the sea square, declare war on your target, select your troops and order them to land on the enemy province. The enemy has no time to combine his armies, for example making it easier to conquer a vassal from a strong liege. Changing landing targets will not cost you extra gold as long as it is in the same sea square. :)

When you click "accept", the troops should start marching to sea (i.e. boarding ships). When they are done "marching" into the sea zone, their graphics should change so that you see ships instead of soldiers. Is that perhaps what you are seeing?

The transportcost is calculated by the number of 'squares' your troops have to cross, so if you select a regiment that is located in the middle of a country and then click on another province across the sea you have to pay the cost from the starting provinces to the destination province even if only f.e. just 1/3 of your trip is across the sea.

Therefor it is better to first move your regiment to the coast and then sent it across the sea.

Didn't know that, since I only board armies when they are on a coastal province :)
