Just downgraded them to outposts to see... Still no change. Kind of sucks because that -350 in cost for ships has not changed..Put me way in the hole and I can't seem to eliminate the cost now.

Did you unpause to let the game recalculate?
This is almost certainly the answer. The game now only displays changes in your income at the end of the month, though changes you made in the previous month do take effect. In your case, this means that you won't pay the upkeep for the fleet you disbanded, even though the tooltip says you will.

Was un-paused but..... The defense platforms are the culprit. Started a new game and kept a close eye on the ship costs... Never built anymore ships other than what I started with and when I started putting platforms on the base I started increasing ship costs. What really sucks is that a single starbase can literally cost over 120 per being fully upgraded and used as a defense point... The description of the platforms also make no mention of the upkeep. New to the game and I like it...but there are some nasty hiccups and numbers issues that can really hurt a defensive player like myself around mid-game.

However, thanks for the input guys (and gals).

Actually, anyone know where the file is with defense platform to mod? Found everything else but the actual line for platforms... At 3 upkeep per platform x19 per base... You are talking about bankruptcy trying to beef up border systems... Pretty bad balance if you ask me.

If you want to make proper defence stations that can stand up to fleets later on, you'll be needing the NSC mod plus another that adds in bigger defence stations (the old fortresses etc are back!). Both of these massively improve Starbases over all and make them viable as strongpoints, even later in the game.

Also, you can see the maintenance cost of a station in the ship designer, the same as you would a ship.

NSC itself adds fortresses back too, no need for another mod.
