Um, yes? I honestly have no clue what part of my post gave you an idea otherwise. You are aware that most people in these forums, when asking about counters, ask about the HoI 3 counters or something very similar, right?

Yeah, I do feel the devs kinda threw out the baby with the bathwater when they practically removed the OOB altogether. Lots of ways it could've been implemented without it leading to the mciro hell that was HOI3.The zoom feature would have worked really well with a hierarchy too.Zoom out, see one counter representing the army. Zoom in to see the corps, and zoom in yet again to see the divisions.
Podcad sayd they nato count are in game.... no worries
syncerely i dont like only airplane animations, they fly around like flies, with no sense.
It dosent help to understand what aviation in general is doing.
This is why I was hoping to see screenshots of just counters and symbols (a la HoI3). When I look at the map it's just so busy. The graphics are nice for sure but it could be difficult to tell at a glance what's going on. I mean on the image above you see planes, infantry, cavalry, bunkers from the Maginot Line you see different colours for France, Germany and Switzerland. Looks like Luxembourg and Belgium are in the top left corner and then you have the terrain features.
Now maybe there are different map modes and filters that can help or settings you can use to flatten things down but right now it's just a lot to take in without staring at it for a minute to take it all in.
Pretty sure after only a few hours of play nearly all of those things will become second nature.
This is my favourite so far, it captures the feel of Age of Wonders III and the confusion that can happen on the battlefield perfectly, the lack of information is almost overwhelming and only for Strasbourg you would have almost no idea where you are let alone what is going on.

Thats an old screen shot. UI looks much more polished. Information is well more accessible via tooltips. Check out the newer screen shots on some of the recent DD's.
What are you complaining about? this captures the chaotic and confusing nature of the war perfectly! This is my favourite so far, it captures the feel of Age of Wonders III and the confusion that can happen on the battlefield perfectly, the lack of information is almost overwhelming and only for Strasbourg you would have almost no idea where you are let alone what is going on.

Realism!
I'm playing Devil's Advocate here, because I liked the OOB for roleplay purposes, but: why do we *need* an OOB in HOI4, given that we are playing political rulers of a country who don't waste their time with nitty gritty micromanagement of which teapot is in which office?I think we need off-map OBB so we can organize our armies, like hoi3 OBB, but without HQ's on the map.
The game tracks each individual ship, plane and tank. The player gets to design his divisions down to the battalion level, even including non-combat battalions such as signal and field hospital. However, organizing your divisions into corps, armies, and army groups is too nitty gritty?I'm playing Devil's Advocate here, because I liked the OOB for roleplay purposes, but: why do we *need* an OOB in HOI4, given that we are playing political rulers of a country who don't waste their time with nitty gritty micromanagement of which teapot is in which office?
