If you consider Bavaria as Austria, then you are right...
He was born in Bad Aibling in Bavaria, joined the 5th Bavarian Infantry Rgt. etc. etc.

Germany had its best BLitz successes when its oppenent was 'surprised' (neutral countries : Denmark, Norway, Holland, Belgium, Luxemburg, and the we-are-not-at-war countries : Poland, S.U...).
So, in hindsight you can argue that those armies , had they known for sure that a bloody war would come, and that there would be no escape from it, would probably be having a tougher resistance to the Germans than they historically did.

Yes I agree. But then there is the question of when the attack will take place. There schould be some sort of penalty fore putting your armed forces on full military alert. Full alert and no attack would soon lead to bad moral in the army due to lack of activity. An exelent example would be France, during the "phony war". The men were higly motivated when drafted, but half-a-yeare nothing else to do but wating for the germans took its toll.

Also drafting a major amount of your manpower schould put a serious strain on the economy, espesially for the minor nations. Norway can serve as an example, as the army wanted to draft a larger part of the population for the neutrality guard. This was refused by the government due to lack of funding.

I've realised that the moral bar (EU style) isn't there any more, it was in the week 2 screen shot, so what gives? Has it been removed or does it only come into affect once the war starts?

Well, I think the morale bar only shows when you mark a unit. There isn't any marked units in those screenshots, therefore, no morale bar.

Can't wait 'till the game goes gold!!!

I don't know well those symbols. Could someone please explain them ? or beter, give the adress of a good site on the subject.

Thank you.

Looks like Fog of war. I hope thats not the final version (it probably isnt) of FoW as only being able to see the next prov. is a bit short ranged for that era. I wonder if air superiority will increase your vision range over a country? It should.

Thanks. So, will choosing to have the "Grognards" change gameplay in anyway? Or will only the units look different?
I believe that only the units are different... after all, why have two different modes of gameplay and then coincidentally assign them different graphics when it seems more logical to just have graphical differences.
Not to mention I've seen games (make that singular, only one) where veteran or grognard changed it to the military-style display.

I see. Thank you very much for the information. :)
I thought it probably would've been the same, but just wanted to make sure. :)

Just something on the map, Metz doesn't have a fort but ?Piermont? does, shouldn't it be the other way around? If the fort is left in Piermont then the Germans aren't going to be able to outflank Belgium like they did historically in 1940.

An interesting thing is the lack of air units in that screen shot, I guess is still being worked on:D

Will the airforces appear on the same screen as the ground forces?

I'm curious about this because it could be different, like the difference between the economic and diplomatic screens in EU2.

Or is it there Eben Emael was? (Largish very good fort that was suppressed by commando raid then taken)
