looks to me as if the box on the minimap is still out of alignment :p

otherwise looking good.

10 different types of population seems pretty detailed for a game, which is nice. between this and the other screenies we've seen about half of them now I wager.

i have to say i like the surface of the map more and more.

yet it made me think, with CK possibility to convert into EU, is paradox thinking of the same thing when it comes to EU->VIC? that would be absolutely splendid,

It wasn't really in dispute - the Texans may have claimed it, but they couldn't do a thing to enforce their claim. The Mexicans kept happily sending governors up to Santa Fe, which is well within the Texan claim, right up until 1846. It took an American army to effectively divorce those lands from Mexico.

As for the claim itself, it was the result of a treaty that was signed by Santa Ana under duress and was never ratified by the Mexican Government, and thus had no force under international law.

So, the borders claimed by Texas existed only in the minds of Texans, and were neither de facto nor de jure...

I don't know if that would be possible. Just think of all the ways that this game differs from EU. The difference in province size alone would create difficulties in the game deciding which nation to assign some of the provinces to when converting from EU to Victoria. Then there's the issue of the research systems, and the population systems (10 different types in Victoria, according to the Johan and Patric - how would the game decide how to break down the EU population of each province first between all the smaller provinces of Victoria, and then between the 10 different population classes?). Then there's also the 15 year gap between the end of EU and the beginning of Victoria. I'd much rather the developers spent time making a better AI than in developing a converter.

Hazzah! This tiny colonial nation of 50,000 impoverished farmers will rule ALL (from our grand Imperial Capital at Austin....all 10 log cabins of it)!! The borders seem a little weird though it looks like the modern State of Texas. Back during the days of the Republic only the eastern part of it was really controlled by the Government and the western part was for all intents and purposes under Mexican control (though we texans claimed a huge chunk of territory, I dont think anybody recognized it except maybe the United States and besides we didn't have an army to speak of to go about claiming it).

I think the entire claimed area should be Texas' CB shields or whatever the equivalent will be in Victoria. Only the Eastern part of the Republic should actually be under Texan control at start.

Though this poses a problem here since most of the Western Part of Texas is in the San Antonio Province on this map and San Antonio was part of the Republic without a doubt but the area to the west of it was not. Amarillo, Lubbock, El Paso, and Corpus Christi I think were in the Disputed area and should belong to Mexico.

Good map, very good. However I was really trying to concentrate to see the ports there and the manufactory (?) too. I wonder if they could be perhaps a little larger for ease of sight?

If the Mexican-recognized borders of the Republic are to be used in game, then the provinces need to be redrawn to the historical shapes and sizes.

Btw, I seem to remember Congress passing an act in the 1830's before annexation that allowed for the eventual splitting up of Texas into 4 more managable states if she so chose so was wondering if this will be allowed for in game?

The capital truly is rather tiny. Also the lack of cities is apparent, I hope it could be seen clearly from the main map whether a province is filled with people and upgraded with buildings. Kind of like what was promised with Legion.
