I just wonder about my dear Chile, represented in EUII and HoI with about 4/5 political divisions, when in reality is subdivided in 13 regions and 51 provinces . Even more, the concept of regions was introduced only at the second half of the 20th century, so 51 provinces will be historical.

Just in case somebody wonders, the areas of

Chile=756,950 sq Km
France=547,030 sq Km
UK=244,820 sq Km
Germany=357,021 sq Km
Spain=504,782 sq Km
Italy=301,230 sq Km

Not to say that they should be at the same detail, but I will dissapointed to see it abtracted to anything less than the 13 regions.

Québec is like 4 times the size of France geographically and yet Québec only had 5-6 provinces. I think it's about the importance of the nation and it's population.

Administrative units in the game, as in EU and HoI and as you can see from the screenshots posted so far, don't necessarily correspond to actual historical administrative units. The main reason for this is that the game has to use similar units for every country, whereas individual countries create administrative units of radically varying size, population, and importance.

Chile's bigger than France It's so skinny I would have never guessed!

Not just bigger, much bigger. But it's still smaller than Denmark. (does Greenland still count?)

Maybe we should blame compression, but the shoreline is... oh well, enough about the shoreline, there's been a discussion about it after every screenie.

But the province borders may be slightly too 'skinny', you can barely see them (or maybe I'm just a bit too sleepy right now.

And is there a chance for a redesign of the port icon? Larger, different colour, something to make it more visible.

I think Patric said that once some stage had been finished, they were going to enlarge the ports.

The colours showed by the FOTW aren't really good (due to a mistranslation of colour shades, I suppose). Dark blue, dark yellow was used.

Why is there a crown above the name of the nation in the upper left corner for a democracy like USA? Another symbol for power might be more appropriate for non-monarchy nations, perhaps those hammer and what's-the-name-of-the-cutting-thingie crossed of the Soviet flag for communists. No idea for the democracies though.

well, the 19th century was a special century because most countries began a certain movement towards democratization...some slower, like Russia, some faster, like Great Britain...I don't think we should stick a title on every country from the beginning...evolution is the most important feature and a game should not impose generalizations

I neither like the idea of jumping from one distinct government type to the other, so perhaps having a symbol of government is'n actually a good idea at all. Why not have the country symbol or flag instead, then?
