We got finally the first screenie from the Pacific!
I am at first sight quite impressed from the weather effects we can see: it seems to me that rains and storm will be there anyway. I think that we'll need at least cloudy weather, too.
My second observation is - which has already been mentioned by others - that there are far too many ports on the map. IMHO it is unrealistic unless there will be a great difference in dock capacity. Let's just take the example of Singapore and Padang. It would be terrible if both ports would be capable to have the same amount of BRT (not to speak about battleships).
The newest revealed part the one I am excited: the government list.
- I am very happy to see that the head of state and the head of government function is separated. I assume that in monarchies you cannot have a new king unless a civil war breaks out and the revolter side wins / the country is totally conquered. But even in that case you should have the option to keep the old ruler in power (could mean lower dissent level, etc.)
- As far as the ministers are concerned, it looks like that we will have 4 pieces of them: foreign, armament, security, intelligence. The role for the first three seems quite obvious for me but the latter one is interesting. So far I haven't read of this feature almost anything. One thing I could find in a preview (already forgot which one) that spies will be in HOI.
- Another surprise for me is the representation of the chief of staff organization. I wonder what it would mean in HOI. I assume that each chief will affect the behaviour, equipment, etc. of his forces. An important point can be here how you can remove a given leader from the chief of staff. IMHO it shouldn't be similar to the minsters because appointing a member of the military is quasi independent from the government form of a state. But side-effects of a removal could be differ among government types.
It is olaso worth mentioning that each personality has a certain charachter which is a great idea. This can be a very good tool to influance the AI strategy for a given country (let's take the example of the UK: through this feature the appeasement policy could be modelled very well I think.) It would be nice to have a listing of all available charasteristics with description (at least in the manual...)
