Fiume was of Austria-Hungary untill the end of WW1, then occupied by Italian forces. In 1920 Italy and Yugoslavia signed the treaty of Rapallo: Fiume became an independent state. Then, in 1924, there was a 2nd treaty, the treaty of Rome: the city of Fiume and a small stripe of coast was annexed to Italy, instead the town of Sussak went to Yugoslavia. The city was occupied by Yugoslav forces on 3 may 1945, and annexed by Yugoslavia after the peace of Paris (10 feb. 1947).

This is one of the cases where we will have to live with abstractions. The province is just too big to assign to Italy, even if Italy was in possession of the city Rijeka (which they call Fiume) itself at that time. No doubt, as with respect to every Paradox game map before, there will be discussions about names, and as always, not every issue has a definite solution. For example, one could make a case that the city representing southern Tyrolia should be named Bozen yadayada ... ;) But it has its Italian name, and in comparison I think it's just as ok that Rijeka is named Rijeka, I guess. :)

Hrm I'm not too sure about this approach Majderson, after all the province was a part of Italy and was governed by Italians. Applying your logic to the entire gameworld might open a whole can of 'ethnic' worms IMHO :)

Who cares about province names and where the borders lie at first...it'll all be mine, mine, MINE! by '45....MUHAHAHAHAHAHA..ahem...

Sorry...got carried away there for a second.;):D

What prevents Paradox from redrawing the province borders, rivers, etc to reflect reality...you know...make one province a little bigger....one a little smaller? Sorry if that is a stupid question. I don't know all of the details that go into creating the maps.:(

Can the provinces be made customizable?
So if somebody doesn't like the name of the province can change it.........

Word up!

This game is gettin better and better. I'm really excited that the developers are spending much time and detail on non-combat related things. It's truly gonna be a grand strategy game.

As allways I like the flag :)
Very nice waves around the coast.
The mtns look nice individually but seem sort of out of place on the mostly flat, grey, subtly detailed provences.

my guess/questions on sliders(from top)

industries/factories
AA guns/level
land fort level
railroad? transportation network level? or supply?
rubber (on hand? being used?)
coal
iron
oil
are we sure that icon is manpower, looks more like a arrow with a smaller branch to the right???

where is coastal fort level, not shown as its landlocked?

What's the zero in USA looking star? (top right)

Yes, like in EU/EU2 you will be able to change all names (leaders, cities etc) for all purposes except that province names shown on the map itself are (for technical reasons) fixed.

This was in fact explained by Johan long ago already when people asked the same questions with respect to EU1: making the map itself customizable would use immense amount of resources so that system specs would rise skyhigh ...

If I should take a wild wild guess the 0 inside the "american" star is a number indicating chance of USA entering the war maybe ?
I know this is not the finished map, but you have realised you have one underwater mountain in the Toulon province right ? :)

I see the star now.. I would think that it has to do with technology, as this is in the technology menu and the star isn't in any other menus.. But, I have no clue what it could be for...

Of course, we know. :)

It's in fact a secret French weapon, though: once the Italian mountain brigades go there, they'll drown ... just kidding. :D
