I guess a large part of it must be food.

Diplomatic influence - something like BB? You lose it if you enter the war to early? Will it be something that makes sense in a multiplayer game?

Perhaps influence to be able to get other nations to join your side in the war?

Tactical map? You must be kidding me. That must for sure be a strategic map.
I don't know if there will or should be any tactical maps or management in this game, but that map is not a tactical map in my opinion.

I think of the map where the action is performed as the "tactical map". It should not be too cluttered by extraenous information.

In general terms the actual employment of troops in combat is regarded as tactics.

IN HoI the diplo/econ screens are the properly "strategic" ones.

Yet another nit:

***gasp***On closer examination of the DCR icon the tank looks like a British cruiser (Covenanter/Crusader apparently). ***gasp***.

Looking forward to a lot of posrts about the icons...:D

Troops can be employed on a strategic map too.
The orders that are given to the units in this game must purely be on a strategic level.
To me, tactical employment of troops mean managing troops on a battalion level or regimental level at the absolute highest.
It has already been said that divisional level will be the lowest level(which are mostly organized in corps and armies it seems). Thefore, the operations planned in this game are on a strategic level. I can't imagine anything else.
Managing troops on a tactical level is like micromanaging the economy. It just isn't doable, especially not in a game that is conducted in real time.

I like the little fire for dissent, by the way.

Hehe (blushing...) Hmpf... It was not Consumer Goods (though they are in the game). Its Supplies.....:D

improvements;

I'd like to see some improvements;

smaller regions (half this size ?)
Look at the invasion beaches and what beachhead was achieved after two weeks...and compare that to 'Caen' .

in EU2 we have winter effects (white coloured region)..but could we have also a clear rain/mud effect ?

Many harbours but few could harbour large ships, let alone battle ships, let alone have Uboat bunker.
Can this be built ? A Uboat bunker/if not visual, at least by a defense modifier ?

How does the bombardment work ?
Can you specify 'only' to bombard a harbour..or must it be the whole region ?
And do you distinguish between areal bombardment of the region (factories, railways, roads, bridges) and bombardment of troops and panzers ?
And distinguish between an areal bombarder (like B17 B25 He111 etc) and a 'pinpoint' bombarder (typhoon) ?

I guess you can have an airfield ( manufactered) in any region, but shouldn't it show (anchor = harbour.. a 'T' landingstrip for an airfield) ?
Or will you make a separate view of the 'air'war map ?

..more suggestions later
