interesting new screen shots but arn't they from an older beta version of HOI.

The last map I saw of france has a fort at Metz but looking at the top left picture no fort.

I believe the fort was added when a beta tester "King" by-passed the maginot line by marching through that Gap late in the beta tests.

Also one Gutsy player, 1936 and he declared war on the US, Britain and Germany.

That has to be a beta! January 3 and he is all ready in germany? And in war with Britain, The U.S., South Africa, Australia? Talk about suprise attack.

Somewhere in this forum someone mentioned that German tank participated in an joint exercise with SU and that Su did not, after that exercise, find the blitzkrieg tactics usefull. Well they surelly found it usefull in the game that russian fellow is playing.

Ralli: I don't think he is in Germany and screens just show diplomatic options, that's why all the DOWs. He simply randomly dowed other countries and then took screens of it in political mode.

Yes, but then the government types would be so much boring in HOI. There would be 1 type of communist and 8 types of fascist, imperialist, pigdog capitalists. :)

Ah yes, you've got to love the rhetoric of the Cold War. DAMN THE EVIL EMPIRE! :D I love Ronald Reagan. He was great. Too bad he's sick now, though. :(

Under glasnost the Russkies released vast archives of spy mapping they'd had stored away that covered virtually every Western country. It's cool to see how they Cyrillicise everything. 'Kembridzh' I seem to remember. I don't know how they managed Wales :) Also frightening, since all the civic buildings, GCHQ centres etc were outlined in purple! Incredible the accuracy of those maps, and what they knew. And now it's gone, thank God.

I don't think we should be unduly worried about game balance on the basis of those excellent screenies. All he's done is declare war on everyone and pause. I predict the Portuguese will be dynamiting Lenin's tomb before January is out :D

Bah, you were pretty safe out there at that godforsaken island:D ;)

The russkies had more detailed maps (including carrying capacity of bridges, mobilization storage rooms, and so on) of important places in Sweden than the normal Swede had access to, that is scary!:D

Yes, as it looks like the Italian flag in one of those shots seems a bit off, but it may just be me...good screenies, but with the delays and all I was expecting revamped shots of battles and the like... :(
