Screen "tearing" or "flicker" after update 1.101 on mac

So I've been enjoying Crusader Kings 2 for soon-to-be two weeks on my mac now, and Im loving it. I've got all the DLC installed, and so far it was worked like a charm. I got home today and saw that my game had the patch 1.101 installed, and I was happy. But when I started my game, I experienced my first crash on my mac ever, and when I managed to start the game again a few minutes later, the screen kept and keeps tearing or flickering when I hoved over my campaign map. This has not happened before this patch. I think this is a mac issue, because I have Crusader Kings 2 installed on Windows as well (also on my mac), and here, the problem is non-existent. Can someone please help me on this one? It is really annoying, and I really to play on the mac version again as the screen resolution is so much better.

I've had the same issue on my macbook as well. Additionally, my computer has been overheating and I can hear the fan working like crazy whenever CK2 starts up. I noticed this first when I tried the beta patch, but figured it would be fixed by time of actual release. I guess not.

What exact Mac hardware and OS X versions please?

Are you on Steam or GG?

I'm Steam, running on a Retina Macbook Pro with Mountain Lion. Never had any difficulties running CK2 until now.

OK, so it's not your video drivers that are causing it for you. So far we only have you two seeing this, I wonder what's different for you.

For the heat, can you look in your settings.txt - what refreshRate is set there (and in the game, I guess)?

I also have a macbook retina with 15" screen and 8GB RAM. No problems until now. Also running it on Steam.

I would check the RefreshRate ingame but I'm not sure how to do so.

Try changing that refreshRate=60 - although to be honest I'm not sure how effective that is on Macs.

In the game it's in options - video, where you set the resolution.

I noticed with the latest patch that my MacBook Pro retina 15" that the fans kick in seconds after I start the game.usually I can play hours and not have them run at audible speeds.

I've changed refreshrate, but it didn't do anything. I can't imagine that this is a big issue; certainly the game was working fine on Old God's initial release. It seems purely to be something to do with the beta (now real) patch.

Nothing really helps, it keeps doing the same thing on the Mac version, but not on the Windows version. This is really annoying.

I have the same problem -- flickering in-game graphics -- on my Macbook Pro, which meets all of the requirements set out in the Mac version readme. I'm hoping this issue is resolved or under investigation by Paradox. There are obviously many of us experiencing this problem. I am very disappointed and will ask for a refund if this problem is not solved.

What exact video card do you all have? For the record here are the Mac requirements:

Video Card: ATI Radeon HD 6750 / NVIDIA GeForce 320 / NVIDIA GeForce 9600 or higher

Turns out I have the GeForce 9400M, which sucks, since my machine is only a couple years old.

I suppose that's it? Bootcamping won't work, since it'll still have the same specs. Guess I'll have to put up with the flickery graphics.

Actually the PC specs are lower:

NVIDIA¨ GeForce 8800 or ATI Radeon¨ X1900 video card

People often find the game works on Bootcamp when OS X on the same hardware does not.

Just to put it out there: Before the 1.101 update, my game was flawless, no issues. Now, there are issues. Thats the problem. This is my graphs card, worked great before this update: Intel HD Graphics 4000 512 MB, I think thats only one of them, I also have an Nvidia GT650M or something.

Well, that's interesting. So, theoretically, this could be fixed with another patch specifically for mac users. Am I way off base in saying that it should be a priority?

Try forcing the game onto the nVidia. This guy fortunately has researched for us how to do that

I use the utility mentioned above, and I don't have to force a switch, it happens naturally.

I should point out that the latest patch does not crash CK2 on my MacBook Pro, but it does kick the fans in a lot.

The only difference between my MacBook and bjornbekk or Thorpe's is that I have 16 GB ram. That should not make a difference, but it's worth noting for your troubleshooting.
