Screen display issue macbook retina display

Hi

Im trying to install and run CK2 on my 15" Macbook Pro retina 2014 with Nvidia Geforce GT750M gfx. When I select 2880x1800 screen resolution all text in CK2 is too small to be usable. When I select 1440x900, the text and UI are fine, but there is an issue where after the "Loading Graphics" stage of the startup as the graphics jump down about 1cm and the interface is lost off the bottom with a black gap at the top, making the game unusable.

I have also installed EU4 and this works just fine at 1440x900, so this is a CK2 specific issue. Is there a solution to this problem so that CK2 will run at 1440x900?

Look in documents/paradox/xk2/logs/system.log . At the end of that file are the supported resolutions for your hardware and this game, usually most of them will not have this mouse registration problem. I don't imagine your Mac desktop resolution is 2880x1800 , is it? It's usually est to set the game to the same resolution as the Mac desktop.

Also check out the Better Readable Font Mod, which should help with your text problem at higher resolutions.

Hi MacBook Pro have a retina screen which is 2880x1800 native res. The use of 1440x900 on EU4 makes it all scale in line with the native res and makes it usable on a 15" screen, but this appears broken on CK2. Trying any other res on CK2 works ok, but is not a even multiple of the screen res and so looks blurry. It is a specific issue with CK2 at 1440x900.

This confirms the 2880x1800 res.

At that res plus the fonts mod, is the game playable for you?

What other resolutions are in the system.log file? They really ought to work.

Slightly better with mod, but still not readable on a 15" mac book pro. See the attached screen shot for example with the Better Readable Font Mod installed. There also remains genuine issue with the use of 1440x900 which is not present at other resolutions or on other games like EU4. I think it is that issue that needs fixing.

I have also checked the system log and it confirms 1440x900 is valid res:

Attached is a mp4 movie of the user experience if you load CK2 in 1440x900 on a Macbook Pro. As you will see right towards the end of loading the graphics the screen jumps down about 1cm and then the UI is cut off at the bottom.

So it runs OK at, say, 1680 1050 or 1280 800? Just not 1440 900 ?

If so I have no explanation for that! I'll see if I can duplicate it on my iMac tonight.

Also, what OS X/MacOS version do you have? It might be worth trying nVidia's Webdriver for that version, instead of the one that comes from Apple.

Was there a reason you didn't suggest Morinns CKII UI Font mod ?
Because it's not on the Workshop ?
Admittedly using the Wokrshop is easier and quicker (as long as it works).
Still, as far as i recall BRFM is still smaller than the larger font variant of Morinn's, but admittedly i'm not sure anymore.

I can confirm that there is no problem at any other resolution, only problem is 1440x900 on Macbook Pro (2014) retina display. I have also checked my old 2012 iMac (without retina display) and I can't replicate the issue on that, so looks like a specific issue with 1440x900 on retina display Macbook pro 2014.

Yes, I'd never heard of it!
