This is my first AAR so hopefully this will go alright. Anyway please do comment on how I've done so far, although I cannot get back to you till probably next Friday or Saturday as I will be seeing my Grandfather who is getting treated for cancer in Wisconsin. I will be posting specific dates for wars and whan nations are formed only.

James IV Ruler (1488)
Mission - Royal Marriage Spain
Mission - Keep 'The Grampions'
Baliff - Strathclyde
In the year of our Lord 1492 I, King James IV, am the rightful ruler of the great nation of Scottland and have been for the past four glorious years. While our nation may be small so to the gradual expansion of the rouge English, I have made it my mission, as God as my witness, to restore what is rightfully Scottish territory to my people. This task may not be easy, however, as I have heard the English have fortified all of their mainland provinces well. This, however, will not deter my effort as I see it only as a test from our Lord and God to see whether or not I am a worthy King.
January 1492
------------
In an attempt to gain support for our cause, I have made it my mission to have a royal marriage with Spain. As they currently have an alliance with England this is a good strategy I believe. I have also decreed that the Grampions shall remain within our grasp, no matter what, atleast for the next five years. I espically will not allow it to be taken by the English infidels who seek to conquer us.
I have also instructed Stathclyde to find a worthy Baliff so I may increase my tax revenue for the upcoming war, although I do not let them know this of course.
April 1492
----------
I have reports that the infidels who call themselves 'Muslims' have been wiped out in Spain. I give a toast to them at dinner on their destruction of the heretics and the restoration of the true faith to Europe. [Granada annexed by Spain April 24]
May 1492
--------
I offer one of my daugters to the Spanish in hopes of better relations meanwhile congratulating them on their recent sucess in reconquering Spain from the infidels who claimed it. Pleased by my remarks, they agree to a marriage and our relationship can only prosper because of this.
July 6,1492
-----------
Reports have been coming in that Russia and its vassal Kazan had a strained relation, but I never thought that Russia would declare war upon them! Russia asks its allies Crimea, Ryazan and Pskov to aid them. While I really have no interest in this war, I secretly hope for Kazan's survival as they remind me of another nation who doesn't get along with its neighbor...
August 2,1492
-------------
I hear that the infidel nation of Turkey has declared war on the Mameluks. I do not really care who wins this, both our lost to the faith.
September 1492
--------------
While things seem to be happening elsewhere around the world, things are still quite dull here in Scottland. However as several wars have now sprang up I decide to look abroad to see some possible alliances against England. Their is France and her allies. The saying "An enemy of my enemy is my friend" comes to mind, but I decide not to for now. I check out Portugal, but they are too far away and Spain is still allied with England. I would ask our neibors in Eire to help, but they have already joined English rule as a vassal and I know my fellow Scottsmen would not much appreciate their help. All in all, I decide to wait, after all, I will not be going to war just yet.
October 8, 1492
---------------
I hear that Russia has lost its war against the its former vassal Kazan and paid 16 duncats in reparations. While I know my subjects do not care, I give a toast to them in their triumph over Russia.
January 1493
------------
After finding a Baliff for Stathclyde, I instruct Lothain to do the same.
January 1494
------------
The Baliff in Lothain was found and now I may receive more tax revenue from their next year and onward.
Meanwhile, I have decided this to be the year to strike back at the English incurstion into our lands, but first I must have some allies to help agaist the English. I have decided to get France's help and to this end I first offer them a royal marriage with my oldest neice and they agree. I also decide to draft 2000 infantry in Stathclyde to add to MacLeod's army.
February 1494
-------------
I ask France if I may join their alliance with them. I have my diplomat explain the potential advantages in a war against England with France to the South and us to the north. They seem to agree and add us to their alliance with Savoy, Britany, Loraine and the Papal States. Hmm...an aliance with the Pope's blessing's can only bear good tidings for our war.
March 1494
-----------
The infantry I requested have been added to MacLeod's command, but I wait since these green recruits have upset some of the veterans in the force to let them get adjusted before declaring war. Patience is a virtue after all.
SCOTTISH WAR OF RECLAMATION
(April 3, 1494-December 6, 1499)
April 1494
-----------
Today, April 3, is the day. I declare war against England. Although a few noble's grumble about going to war against a fellow Roman Catholic, none of them really oppose this war and I know secretly they have been wanting revenge against the English. England calls her allies, Milan, Naples and Poland-Lithuania. While Milan and Naples do not seem much of a threat to me, Poland-Lithuania might be. I call on the French and other's to aid me, most of them do, though Loraine does not. I do not like it, but understand. Anyways I cannot do much about it as I would haveto go through France and that would tie up resources against England so I let it slip.
Now that the war has begun, I raise some war taxes and send myself and MacLeod south to The Marches. I will be happy in this war to just claim that province. I also send out Douglas who captain's our one and only fleet to patrol the water's around this isle for possible enemy vessels.
MacLeod arrives on the 29th, 1 day before I do in The Marches and we attempt to route the current English army stationed there. Meanwhile Douglas has indeed found some enemy ships and he did not haveto go far, just right offshore! The English must have heard rumors of my planned war ahead of time and sent them there. I also tighten security now to make sure no spies get ahold of our information again.
May 1494
--------
We lost the battle at The Marches. I blame MacLeod who began the fight without me and take command of what's left of his units and releive him of command. I know he is disappointed and knowing I acted rashly and harshly for one loss, I give him a small bonus for his salary this month.
June 1494
---------
The war seems not be going well as I hear that Douglas lost a battle outside the port. Oh well, that spy probably told the English of Douglas's weaknesses and that is why he lost. I tell send a letter to Douglas telling him to change his tactics because of the possiblity the English know his moves or I shall haveto find a new commander for our navy.
Meanwhile after making sure the letter gets sent off, I attempt another try for The Marches, this time with myself commanding the entirety of our army.
July 1494
---------
I arrive with my forces at The Marches prepared for another battle, only to find that the enemy has abandoned troops here! We immediatly lay seige to city. I believe this is most likely due to France invading southern England, but I cannot say this for certain.
Sept 1494
---------
After giving him a bit of time to come up with some better strategies, I send Douglas back out again, perhaps he will have better luck this time.
January 1495
-------------
I send an order to Stathclyde to draft 2000 infantry to aid in our seige.
February 1495
-------------
Douglas found the enemy off The Coast of Britany and engaged them, shortly to be followed by my allies.
March 1495
----------
It seems Douglas's new tactics worked, along with aid from France and Britany we won this battle and sunk several of their ships!
May 1495
--------
Douglas arrives in Stathclyde for new supplies after the battle before heading out again for another patrol.
July 1495
---------
My advisor sent me a report telling me that we have learned how to build something called refineries, a building of some sort. While I am pleased with this news, it does not help much out here on the warfront.
Later in the month, I hear that Turkey has annexed the Mameluks on July 21, 1495. I shrug this off as it is no concern of mine.
November 1495
-------------
Seeing the need for more recruits as many have deserted us in the seige, I raise war taxes.
January 1496
------------
Venice declares war on Turkey on January 6, 1496. Seems someone cared about that annexation. Hansietic League, Pommerania, Hoelstien and Portugal aid Venice.
I use the the taxes to draft 4000 infantry in Lothain to help with seige.
February 1496
-------------
My military advisor rushed me the news that we can now use metal balls in our fights on land. When I ask them if the changes much, he shrugs and tells me it does somewhat, but more reasarch is needed. This news is indeed good, but I hope he can come up with some better ideas.
On February 8, 1496 Hungry declares war on Turkey. Seems Venice was not alone in Turkey's annexation of Mameluks upsetting them. Austria, Bohemia, Cologne, Spain and Navarra side with Hungary in their war.
September 11, 1496
------------------
I hear rumors from my advisors that Turkey has made peace with a country known as Persia giving them Syria. I have never heard of such a place and my advisor points out their capital Isfadan to me on our map. It is indeed beyond known lands and probably another ifidel nation who call themselves Muslims.
November 1496
-------------
The war still continues and I need more men so I again raise war taxes to help.
January 1497
------------
I again recruit more men for the seige, though this time I ask for 1000 cavalry and 1000 infantry. Perhaps the cavalry will aid in this long siege.
I also can claim that I have succeeded in my missions to keep The Grampions and a royal marriage with Spain. With this newfound moral booster, I again claim that I will keep The Grampions from enemy hands, namely England, and also decree I shall have a marriage with Denmark to improve our relationships abroad.
With this sudden influx of zeal I quickly send off my another neice to the Danish with reguards and he must see my diplomats zeal in our recent success in acomplishing our goals as he decides having one of his sons marry a Scottish lass is indeed a benifit in the long run.
February 1497
-------------
The English sent some of their forces to wrest our seige on The Marches, but we easily sent them packing.
On the 17th of February my I receive a report saying that Milan has accepted peace with France after paying them 250 duncats. This is good news as it frees up more units for France to go after England and also weekens our enemies.
May 1497
--------
First dent in the long seige to the stength of the fortress. Although it is small, this is surely a sign from God after France's victory that our war is on the side of rightness.
Later during the month however, I recieve a report saying that Savoy had to cede Nice to Milan. This is indeed an ill tiding. Perhaps it is a reminder from Heaven that just as God can giveth, he can taketh away. I shall be more careful from now on when claiming victory too soon.
June 1497
---------
I sent Douglas out again on a patrol and this time was once again attacked right outside my port in Lothain! Seems the English have something with that port. Douglas however looses this battle after a good start. That is not what is suprising though. What is, is that he lost with 4 Galeons to 1! I would replace him, but I fear the next captain will do just as bad so I dock his pay for this month and the next.
I have also decided that since Milan is no longer land-locked, it may threaten me. I propose a white peace with them, but they refuse. Oh well, I suppose with their recent victory they seem ready to take on almost any threat.
August 18, 1497
---------------
Seems our main ally France maid peace with England after offering them 128 duncats. This is bad news. If they could defeat France, then we may be in trouble. I hope this seige ends soon.
September 1497
--------------
England annexes what is left of Savoy on the 5th. Things are now looking grim for us. Has God really sided with the English?
Some light is at the end, however small and tokenish. Milan accepted a white peace with us and our allies on the last day of this month.
October 1497
------------
Won two battles against the English trying to wrench us out of The Marches, but succeeded, for now.
December 1497
-------------
Another victory for us in The Marches. Perhaps we may get this territory after all. Even so, I decide to raise war taxes just incase.
While the seige continues, I hear reports that Russia again declared war on Kazan with the same actors as before. Again, I secretly cheer for Kazan.
January 1498
------------
1000 infantry and 1000 cavalry are drafted for the seige in Lothain as we have had another battle to wrest control.
February 1498
-------------
I initiate an assult on their fortress which lasts the month, but we win in the end. I join my troops in a celebration after this long seige.
March 1498
----------
My advisors report to me that our naval tactics have been improved. Things seem to be changing from what they were half a year ago. I inform him to send these new ideas to Douglas so that he can incorperate them into his strategy.
Meanwhile, I offer peace with England for The Marches, but they refuse. Oh well, they english were always know for being thick headed.
June 1498
---------
I decide to initiate seige on Lancashire. Perhaps when they see another city under seige, the English will change their minds.
September 1498
--------------
This seige seems to be going much better than the last one. Already the fortress show signs of weekness. I decide therefore to ask the netherlands for a marriage with my second oldest son and seeing my recent victories over England, they agree.
November 1498
-------------
My military adivory has gome to me again out in the front. He explains that we can now use those metal balls in artillery. It's a long tube in which one of those balls in placed and fired. He brought one with him and showed it to us. This could have uses in seiges. I congratulate him and tell him that he will be rewarded, as will the one who developed this idea, when the war is over.
England offered us The Marches. While I admit this is what I aimed for in this war, I see hardly any land force within England and decide to press on for all our rightful lands in this war.
December 1498
-------------
War taxes were issued once again. Hopefully this will be the last time in a while.
January 1499
------------
Again 1000 infantry and 1000 cavalry to aid us. These battles have taken their toll on my soldiers. Although I do take Lakeshire. One more province and I will be happy. I hope to finish it soon as England now has recruits it is hiring.
Turkey accepts peace with Austria on the 5th after Austria pays 127 duncats. How can God side with the infidels?
Turkey and Bohemia also return to status quo. Can the Muslims really be doing so well?
February 7, 1499
----------------
Kazan accepts a white peace with Russia, although it gives 116 ducats to Pskov. Oh well, Kazan lost, but atleast it defeated Russia.
April 5, 1499
-------------
Turkey makes peace with Hungary giving them Bosnia and Serbia. Atlast the infidels pay! Perhaps Turkey's other two seeming victories were merely tests for all of Christiandom.
July 1, 1499
------------
Savoy frees itself from English control. We cheer them in their victory at throwing off the English rule!
August 1499
-----------
Yorkshire is captured from the English. Atlast we have control of all of our rightful lands, though I cannot celebrate because another unit has layed seige to Lancashire and must defend against it.
October 1499
------------
We offer England peace, this time demanding all of our rightful homeland, but again we are rebuffed. I am getting tired of this war and hope it will end soon.
Ragusa is annexed by turkey on the 10th. Sadly it seems Turkish might will not fall easily, but I did not expect that much. Fearing for the next year that I will not be able to continue this war, I reluctaly take out a loan for 200 duncats. I hope this does not come back to haunt me. I immediatly use this money to buy some troops.
December 6, 1499
----------------
The war is finally over with us as a victor! We cheer at our recapturing all of our sacred homelands in this David vs, Galiath battle. A week of celebration is ordered throughout the kingdom ending in a day of Revenrance to our dear Lord who made this possible.
February 1500
-------------
I decide to promote a Baliff in The Grampions and Highlands. Now I can finally get back to increasing the economy, after all I will need to in order to pay off the loan.
April 29, 1500
--------------
Turkey seems to be restless with wars as it now goes after Georgia, although Wallachia and Hafsid join Turkey in this one.
January 1501
------------
Again I can claim our missions our successful! Now however I have some new ones. I now claim that I will keep Lancashire out of enemy hands, espially those English who are probably still sore at loosing it. I also claim that I will have a marriage with Sweden to further improve my relations in the Baltic.
I then begin to search for a Baliff for The Marches and send off a distant cousin to Sweden with my reguards. Seeing our recent victory over England, the Swedish seem to believe, and rightfully so, that we are an up and coming power.
