To the East, a different stratagem paid higher dividends. The steady advance of Austria, Poland, Lithuania and Bohemia across the Russian steppe continued. In May 1691 Poland secured two further territories from Kazan, while Lithuanian armies pushed on – and would soon be rewarded.
The Summer and Autumn of 1691 saw Scottish forces again eliminate the fighting strength of England, Vijayanagar and the Mughal Empire. Spring 1692 saw garrison after garrison fall.
