I don't think ww1 fans and or ACW fans would enjoy this game just for those scenarios. This is not in any form or way a WW1 simulator or a ACW simulator. The focus is not combat.

How can you except to market this game with the WW1 and the ACW if there is no combat other than there currently is? Do you think fans of these specific events would be satisfied? Or do you think they would get mad and shout in outrage how they expected a full blown war campaign and how Paradox has failed them?

This discussion reminds me of the multiplayer debate with Galactic Civilizations 2. Stardock likewise felt that the development time for multiplayer could be better used in the core game. And sure enough, reviewers marked the lack of multiplayer as a minus and some gamers complained about it, yet the game got raving reviews and was a roaring commercial succes.

It seems an especially bad reason to include more scenarios to satisfy reviewers. Sure, Paradox will be able to say "Hey, we got x many scenarios included" and sure they'll get away with it because the reviewers won't play the game throughly enough to discover Victoria fundamentally isn't equipped to simulate specific wars properly, but it's basically cheating. People who'd just buy the game to play the ACW shouldn't be buying the game at all, regardless of whether the scenario is included.

Concerning historical and geographical exactness I trust them more.

Yes but, Just think the EUIII mod, millions of regions, millions of factions, but in fact do not bring anything, even bring chaos, make a game more historical is right but in thelimits of the gameplay, I think the paradox could do better, but I did not hurry, I might add to this scenario in the next few patches, I did not hurry.

But the first thing that i want is a good game to play. Maybe paradox have some idea for the game that i don't imagine, we see.

I'm a big WWI fan. (That sounds a bit odd, doesn't it?) I'd love to have a WWI scenario in V2. That said, I agree with Paradox's reasoning. A WWI scenario would be interesting to me not just because I like the subject, but because I enjoy the game play in general. As others have stated, this is not a war game. I certainly would not buy this game just for a WWI scenario, if I wasn't interested in the game overall. And if I did, I imagine I'd be bored to tears. Better for them to focus on getting the basic game down now and providing scenarios in an expansion.

However an interbellum fan would buy this game for the WWI scenario as its both the only game to represent the period and the game with the best suited system for the period too

Oh boy, another $20 for something they should've put in to begin with.

Gee, I wonder if there will be a $20 expansion for the ACW.

And another $20 for WWI?

I refuse to buy a game and then practically rent it by having to buy new additions. Unless said DLC was free, it's just showing the downward hill this company is heading too if they start charging us more after we bought the game.

Well, I was mildly sarcastic... I am quite sure that any real gameplay-affecting updates will be either free patches or an expansion. It has not been the practice of this company to charge for new campaigns. Charging for purely aesthetic improvements like spritepacks is a completely different issue, knowing that for many of us sprites in games like HoI3 are not at all important.

If PI will make expansion with scenarios it would be not fair to pay also for them. It would be more correct to have an free access to expansion in the event that the fan already has license game. It would be interesting to know, what thinks of expansion Johan.

No, I'm fairly sure it will be poor represenation of interbellum as well.

Just answer yourself a question - were Revolutions even remotely good at that?

Yes, it seems that this time fascism might be covered a bit better (haven't heard yet about the communism, except from the "priests are teachers in communism as well" discussion). But otherwise, I don't expect it to work in a way you would like it - it's only ~20 years to cover - it's comparetively 14 times less gametime then in full HoI3 scenario. To be more exact, it's like playing just 1 year of HoI3.

For good interbellum game, you would need different mechanics - not the one that is suited for 100 year long game. It's almost like thinking that by making nice mod for EU3, with different start and end date you can make good interbellum game as well. Yes, Vicky will have couple more toys then EU3 more suited for early XX century - but late game scenarios still suffer from shortness and generalization of the game mechanics.

It looks quite funny how everyone here is suddenly marketing expert and knows what will sell and what will generate profit. :D

Don't you think, that PI marketing and dev teams have more experience and data to tell that better? Calculating profit based on sells estimations and cost calculations is hard enough, even when you have needed data and you have nothing...

I'm not singling you out, but I keep seeing this come up.

It's not about playing the War. It's about playing as the Confederacy. THE Confederacy, not some alternate version of it where New Jersey seceded and Alabama didn't. I want to run Abe Lincoln out of DC, not Jimeniz von Rittersmark or whoever else the game spits out to win the presidency for the Republicans.

And after EU3's setup, I admit I was eager to do things like select a date in June '63 and try to break the siege of Vicksburg.
