That scenario alone will sell Victoria like pancakes in the U.S.

I mean, most Americans (especially those from the south, idolize the one and only time that they were CONFEDERATE.)

Also, it opens the doors for all sorts of historical possibilities...

Dixie imperialism in Africa... somehow I think they would work something out about that...

Dixie industrialisation and Pax Americana dixie style...

Dixie involvement in WW...

Yep, I am SURE that this alone would sell Victoria over the pond.

I am willing to bet the ACW has its own scenario, if it dosent and from start of game to 1860 you can alter the history and avoid the war, that will open up a can of worms for every american civil war historian who comes here. There are a lot of people who dont like drastic deveations from history and to an extent I am one of them. However I realize that in paradox games you can change the course of History and in the process avoid events that occured.

If you can do this, and avoid the ACW in a campaign and there is no scenario for it, well we are in for one hell of a ride on the boards. The best way to combat the alternative history outcome, is to have ACW be its own scenario and have a GC where you can alter events, just like EU.

However not having one will give us all lots to talk about wont it ? :D

I agree on this one. I find an 1860 scenario much more interesting than an 1835 start.

Also, there needs to be a scenario that begins just before the start of WWI. To me this is just as important as an 1860 scenario.

i think that's just as obvious to paradox, like the '39 and '41 scenarios in HOI.

I'm not surprised if they haven't. My guess for scenarios is a Grand Campaign, an ACW, Italian and German Unifications, Franco-Prussian War, and WWI.

And, of course, some group is going to be making alternate history events, so we'll no doubt have Confederate events all the wayup to the game. Plenty of alternate history books to base them on. :)

How did you guess? :D

I was planning it based on his, except with the Confederates not buying Chihuahua and Sonora, but instead going for African colonies, imitated by the US, etc. AKA, I'd have the US allied w/ Germany, and Confederacy with Britan and France, alternate US elections, all of it. :)

That's what I like about Paradox games: so many ways to make an alternate history scenario. Like if the Fadosha incident escalated into war between France and GB, or if Napoleon fought his opponents to a draw, and is biding his time for the perfect moment, or if.....

I am going to love this game.

Bah! Confederate imperalism is very overdone. I think more fun would be trying to hold your own as Mexico. Deal with internal instability ASAP, take back Texas before the US can annex it, claim Oregon country, and make a scramble for Cuba, Hawaii, and Central America. From then on in you could start claims a bit behind the times in Africa, or maybe Asia.

It should be hard, and it will almost certainly require that you ally with a European power to contain America (Britain would be the best). However, the differences in wealth between the two nations were not that great yet in 1825.

EDIT: For added fun, have Mexico go communist at the turn of the century. And begin funding the IWW and similar groups in the united states.

Your thinking of the Fashoda crisis of1898 don't you? If you are then you are right on the money. If it wasn't because the french was in such a miserable state it could very well have escalated into a full fledged war...

another interresting episode was the Trent-affaire where a Union ship boarded the british ship the Trent carrieng some confederet representativs to britain. The british very nearly declared war against the union until Lincoln released the prisonors and appologized.

1848 would be better i think as the year of revolution rolled over europe, and a lot of uprisings happend all over the continent. This is also the beginning of the 1st Schleswig war (also known as the 3 yeas war).

What about 1846? then you could have the Mexican-American War.
