There's an option to unify Skandinavia in all Paradox games so why not here as well?

The argument against it, that I heard before was: HoI has a short time frame and is focused on the war. Cultural Unions are longterm political protjects and won't be in the game at all IIRC.

I would love to see it though. Because shaping the map is the fun sandbox aspect that i am looking forward to. Now I don't know about scandinavia today as well as you all. But I know that it it's not what is relevent for the game and it's timeframe. Also it doesn't really matter whether the maiority of the population would love a union. The question is wheather a norse goverment would change it's name and propaganda to be pan-scandinavian. Völkisch-Fascists alinged with germany would embrace a pan-scandinavian/pan-germanic idea. And Communists would probably abolish the monachy. Proclaim international scandinavian unity than wouldn't be so far fetched, would it?

Than there is the question of how the union should be triggered. Without an external threat or extream pressure by one powerfull norse country I don't imagin it should be likely. But is it really crazier than the franco-british union? Why not have a National Focus tree (with some Ideogical restrictions) that allows the formation of a Nordic Union?

Because it's the wrong term for the nordic countries. They are nordics not scandinavia. Scandinavia excludes finnland menaing that the 'swedospehere' (sorry for calling you that finland I know you don't like it but what other word could I use?) gets shafted big time.

If you want to go nitpicking on terms then yes, Scandinavia would be the wrong term for united Nordic countries. But it's close enough, commonly used anyway and compact. In any case, the name is not really relevant to the idea, call it the Greater Swedish Reich for all it matters.

Also, if you want to go purely by geography then neither Iceland (which indeed in general isn't) or Denmark is part of Scandinavia since only Sweden and Norway occupy the Scandinavian peninsula.

Actually finland have land on the scandinavian peninsula while denmark is usually considered part of the scandinavian country group, hence adding to the problems with the concept of scandinavia.

2014 Sweden alone has larger GDP than Poland, alot larger per capita.
If combining it with Denmark, Finland, Norway and Iceland it would place a Nordic Union with an economy as large as Russia although alot more effective per capita.

So its go go go for me... ;)

Would love a Scandinavian Union, the possibility with powerful armies. The Finnish infantry together with the Swedish Flight! Marsch to Berlin and the reoccupation of baltikum against Soviet! Maybe with the help of USA it would be possible. ;)

Considering the Franco-British Union event already in the game, a Scandinavian Union would just be Sweden annexing everyone.

Your right, such an event and an extra Tag are seperate issues. Franco-British style Unions are probably suposed to be temporary. I am curious if there is an event for what happens after the war. Can Britain just keep France? Similary Sweden for exemple might legitimize keeping allied terrtory by proclaiming a Norse Union. They probably would be using pan-scandinavian propaganda through out the war in such a scenario, so it would be a plausible next step.

An united Scandinavia wouldn't be a great power, not even close - it would still stand no chance against Germany or the USSR. Hell, it wouldn't even stand a chance against Italy. It would probably be the equivalent of Canada. Besides, what you're describing sounds a lot more like some sort of Swedish Empire.

It'd be fairly powerful economy wise, granted this is before sweden got it's boost from profiteering from the war, but a nordic union that do manage to do what sweden did and stay out while tradiing with both sides would come out of the war as a serious player.
