So, why do all the scandinavian women look like they've been drinking straight for a week, after being beaten up by their abusive husbands? Any chance of an overhaul of these portraits?

Yes, I agree up to the point that I think they should more colour varieties for their hair colour, especially different tones of blonde. I would love to see the woman you have on your portrait to have blonde hair as the Swedish girls/women are very well known for that.
Agreed. Try the portrait realignment pack; with that you can choose various options including the use of vanilla faces (but still with Norse accessories and hair) for both Norse men and women, or you can choose to only alter the female portraits if you prefer.
