Savequit Ironman game shortly after succession to son, now game over on load

I have an ironman game that I've been playing. Everything has gone awesome, and I just had a great ruler who had one son and passed all down to him when he died. Absolutely no title lost and things were great.

It was time to stop playing last night so I chose 'Save and Quit'. Now I go back to load the game and I don't see a flag for the dynasty on the load screen. When I choose 'Play' it loads the game and then shows the game over screen. The chronicle option is greyed out so I don't have any feedback on why the app thinks my game is over. It shouldn't be over, everything was going perfect.

Is it possible or helpful to send in my save game in order to figure out what bug has caused this issue?

I think the problem could be related to the fact that a new update was released today. Now that the new version is out, I'm trying to opt-in to the old version via the beta tab in steam so I can finish my game. The opt-in works and I can open the game to the splash screen (which says the previous version), but when I try to load the game it immediately crashes. Any ideas on how to get the game to start when opting in to the previous version beta?

Was probably the bug in 2.2. with Ironman, which happened to choose another character for you on reload and when the game chose a landless title you get a game over.
You are still on 2.2 ? Then try this:

There was also another explanation how to do it that i found:

Your are in the first game menu, click 'load'
The map appears, now click any landed title your true ruler holds in your save.
Now go to the load menu, but simply click 'load', without clicking a save file before.
The info box below might now show that achievments are disabled (could be).
Now you select your save file and load it -> your original character should appear.
Click play and go.




In short: select a landed title on the map your true character holds, click 'load', choose your save file and load again, play

I don't know if it works on 2.2.1, but it worked for players when still on 2.2.

edit: didn't see your second post while writing this.
You can't opt into 2.2 or the Beta again. It probably still shows in Steam, as you didn't manually closed Steam earlier.
If you haven't a second installed game folder on the old patch outside Steam, then you still could try the solution above, but i don't know if it will work with the new patch.

Thanks for your suggestions. I did find something that fixed my problem! I tried reverting to the previous game version available through steam (2.1.6 I believe) but after it would do nothing but CTD I then: 1) restarted my PC, 2) left the beta which installed the latest game version, 3) opened the game and all works. I knew it was behaving different the moment I select the save file (before loading the game) as the flags were not black as in the previous attempt. I'm so glad I'm able to continue my current game... the Scandinavian Empire is about to wreck the Francs (and I think everyone else as well).
