saved games won't load...

good day forum,

i started a 1914 scenario playing germany and i got one problem: i can't load my saved games from september 1914 on... this problem occured for the second time which means i started a whole new scenario for the second time and this problem still appears.
the game is patched to 1.01 and does NOT occure when i am NOT in war with france & belgium (in my first tryout, that actually worked i played until 1918 fighting russia only). maybe there is a connection between a trigger from the western front and the game crash?
note: the game does not actually crash or freeze - i just never finishes loading. and unfortunately i am not able to get back to the desktop which means i have to restart my computer when this problem occurs.

There was a text problem in 1.01 when using non-English version to play the game. Either patch to 1.01.1/1.02.b1 or use English to play the game.

ok... the game ist patched to 1.01.1 and i am playing in english - but guess what? i will just leave the game alone, write an amazon review and checkout the forum the next holidays, maybe a new patch will await me.

Can you ZIP/RAR the un-loadable save-game file and upload it here? Then me or someone else could check what exactly is wrong with it.

Posting my reply to the e-mail I've got here too, for all that could have the same issue in the future:

From the saves you sent me I can tell that your game is "Darkest Hour v 1.01 (HIDJ)" - that's patch 1.01, and that you're playing in German at the moment those saves got corrupted. Here is part of the game log that shows this:

You should either upgrade your game to 1.01.1/1.02.b1 patches OR start a new game playing in English.
Those saves won't be loadable either way unless manually fixed. The exact problem is that because of incorrect text string format for most non-English texts in 1.01, an invalid character is saved into your game's log and this crashes the game on reload. To manually fix your saves you have to open them in a text editor (I'd recommend notepad++ for that), search for "eyr = { history = { " (without the quotes) and delete all entries there (starting with "name =") - at the end you should have just these lines:
eyr = { history = {
} }

Make sure you back-up your saved games first.

If you decide to jump to 1.02.b1 directly, then I'm highly recommend you to start a new game instead of loading saves made in 1.01 to benefit fully of the changes made in 1.02.

Thanks for the quick reply, but as I already stated:
My version is already patched to 1.01.1 but I'll give it a try. Will I be able to continue the game normally without any loading problems if I continue to play my saved games in english?

No. As I said you should fix your saves manually or start a new game
