Save Games not loading

I had started playing as the British and decided to put it down for a while so I saved game and exited. Cue an hour or two later when I try to load it and the game just sort of freezese once I click continue Campaign or Load Game (Although in Load Game I have to click on a save before the freezing). The music is still going on in the background, and the mouse is frozen at the click animation (Gloved hand with one finger extended). I end up having to force quit the game.

Specs:
Game bought on Steam
Vista Home Proffesional
Dell XPS Gaming Laptop

PS. Starting a new game works fine.

Ive not been terribly impressed with the game so far I have to say. The game was released nearly 2 hours after the supposed launch on Steam, no preloading and now this. The fact that people on Gamers Gate got to play the game hours before me does not help.

Running XP myself but I haven't tried the save load a lot but anyone except Vista users experiencing this. I mean it's the biggest piece of crap floating out there and any developer with a brain and a say (I'm forced to develop on it) stays away from it. A guess might be some permissions somewhere are screwing it up but that's just a guess, try tracking all the files and see if some are in folders where you don't have full access in vista without doing the whole yes I really want to open this file 2x on a damned dialog box.

The fact is though, although I admit Vista is a garbage ball of monkey excretions, it is the "gaming" OS at the moment. I am waiting for Windows 7 (which looks to be a hell of a lot better). However, I don't know what version the guy is running but Steam has been a bit of a muck up as far as the whole game is concerned so far, so I would not be suprised if it was Steams fault rather than the OS.

Same issue with Conot, my save files won't load up. I tried the solutions you guys put forward (because the game wouldn't run originally).

The game does not load. The saves don't display at the load menu. Also, the "continue campaign" crash with C++ runtime error when the game have not been closed and do nothing when the game have been closed for a while earlier.

All of these are UNACCEPTABLE for such a game!

(My system is on Windows XP SP2)

I have found the problem, at least on my pc. The saves are stored in "My Documents" folder, and it was in Russian. Reinstalling the game from Program Files folder does not help because saves will still go into My Documents.
I have changed the name (proceed with caution, you can't just rename the folder, I have moved it from the desktop->My Documents->PKM-> and changed name to a new english one. This is on your own risk, better google this topic!!!) and now game saves and loads.

i have the same problem and im running windows7 64bit, corei7 920, 4890gpu...

i have played 53years before i discover my savegame wont load. When i try to load the game freezes and my cursor is moved/centered in the center/middle of my monitor.

The problem doesnt seem to exist on fresh games younger than 10years old.

when will the next patch be out? and how long will it take before a steam version of that patch is made?

Sad to say, the whole issue has not been resolved. My save games after...I'm going to assume 1615 or so, will not load. I have a game at 1608 that loads, but another that occurred after 1615 aren't working.

The autosave/Continue Campaign options aren't working either.

Yes I have updated the game to 1.05.
