Bobby,
Like you I am having the same problem. my CK2 game with all patches, all DLC (Except for the "what-the-heck-are-they-thinking?" poetic ebook), and autoupdates set to, uh, well.. Auto.. I did a bit more research, or rather troubleshooting and discovered the following observations:
1. The game was not crashing. It was ending.
OS X throws up a report window for any app that crashes and gives me some really detailed techno mumbo-jumbo.
When CK2 miraculously decides to stop, it just stops. No error message, no email, no phone call in the morning, no hug, no kiss. Just. Gone.
Precisely on JAN 1, 950. Some scholars would arguably say that this date marked the beginning of a period of almost uninterrupted expansion of agriculture, trade, and population growth in western Europe that spanned nearly 400 years. Of this I would not know as I am a fat, virgin, pragmatic nerd-geek with bad acne and glasses that merely wants a game he has invested ( Yes, I did buy this. No, I did not download it on BitTorrent) hundreds of dollars and 2.5k hours in to work correctly.
2. Autosave has nothing to do with it.
Turn autosave off and Viola! the game still crashes, [oops, I meant stops working] on that date that will live in infamy.
3. That accursed "Lover's Pox"!
I checked just on the off-chance that Lover's Pox might have been causing this. So with a virgin character I marched on to that fateful day and Viola! the game still crashes, [oops, I meant stops working].
4. This is not "Ground Hog Day" in a medieval game.
I did a character search in game for Bill Murray, Phil, Andie MacDowell, Rita, Chris Elliot, Larry, Stephen Tobolowsky, and Ned. I did not specify any other parameters like ruler, in jail, or adult. My search yielded no results, but alas Viola! the game still crashes, [oops, I meant stops working]
Ok, my Mom says I should always tell the truth, and in #1 I may have exaggerated my own personal description: I am not pragmatic. I am asthmatic. I just didn't want you to think I was a total loser.
