I periodically like to play god so that I can clear up messy borders, help out realms that I'd like to see do better, or give myself an extra challenge. I generally just use the console, but now I want to change someone's liege, and I recall that the only way to do this is through save game editing.
But when I open up a save file in Notepad++ or regular Notepad, I get an unintelligible stream of characters. The entire file looks like this:
Less than a year ago, I was editing saves with some frequency, and I never encountered this. Was save game encoding changed in the meantime? Is there any way to view a save as actual text anymore?
