Just wondering why there are so many people packed into low density houses and if there is a way to avoid this? I mean look at the size of the house and then look at the sats?

Perhaps I am reading the stats wrong? What does the 4/5 households refer to? Are the number of residents counted across 4 houses out of 5 in the surrounding area??? I'm struggling to make sense of the stats given here?

That means there are 4 households (families) living in that house. The 5 is the maximum number of households that can live there.

This was a very weird and questionable design choice. You have too many people living in single-family homes, yet have too few people living in apartment highrises. It makes no sense whatsoever.

Thankfully, there is a mod that resolves this. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=426163185&searchtext=realistic

For the game, what you see here is "normal." The larger the parcel of land for low density residential, the greater the amount of total households the single house will accommodate, and thus the more total people who reside there.
Again, for the game, this is what you want to achieve ..... more people in a small amount of space, especially for the low density residential.
Is it realistic ? ..... No. But it's a just a game. But I guess it you want to look at it a different way, just think of some remote nations/communities where large households are commonplace.

Don't get "hung-up" on such small matters.
PS: The high density residential, which are suppose to resemble apartment-like structures, do hold more households and people than low density.
Also, when a low density house upgrades, it seems to randomly "construct" to a different style home. The home will end-up "looking" like either small, medium or large, but the number of households never goes down, and sometimes the number of households will go up one of two steps.

I know they hold more households than low-density. I guess I should be more clear. Compared to their size, low-density holds too many, while high-density holds to little, even though it's more than low-density.

Thx dj97 & cRAGGLE. That encouraging to hear. :)

It's OK 28rommel ... no one hung up this end. LOL @ playing 3rd World Cities! Not my kind of game. Each to their own. All the same thanks for the breakdown. That explains a lot.

A bit of a nuisance for those wishing to emulate small peaceful communities. I can see now why there is no merging of The Sims & City Building genres with such discrepancies. Must have something to do with the amount of number crunching Vs your average PCs/Notebooks ability? Perhaps in time typical devices will be able to allow for the merging of more accurate simulations.

Edit - Thx for that link re the Mod ... although I am unsure about that mod, the discussion is very enlightening. "Thumbs Up" !!!

I didn't say anything about "3rd World Cities."
Some families in more modern parts of our world, do have large/larger households.
I also don't find it funny ("LOL") to mock or make fun of "3rd World" nations or their people. Some of our brothers/sisters from our own community here on this forum, might be from such areas, so we must be respectful with our choice of words.

I respectfully withdraw the comment. I meant no offense. Remember - It's just a game. Don't get so hung up.

PS - I take it this forum has an ignore feature. If my words are to be taken out of context - rather than derail the thread with bantering quotes; may I suggest you use such a feature. I will take the liberty of doing so myself.

Take care and enjoy the game.
All the best.

Yeah, population density is always based on the type of zoning and how many squares the lot occupies. Relatively small or big looking buildings bring aesthetic variety.

I have always sort of taken it to just be a scale thing. That one house represents numerous houses, rather than actually drawing 4 to 5 houses. Right or wrong, I don't much care, but that is how I interpret it myself.
