Hello there,

Since the Utopia-DLC and the official appearance of buildable megastructures and changes to Ringworld Systems, minor details about Sanctuary have started to bother me (who cares about aesthetics of the empire) to the extend that I dont even want to own this system anymore. - yes, I am somewhat unique in that regard. lol
Anyway...

Minor Detail #1 - Sanctuary has planets in the System
With the release of Utopia, ringworld systems arent supposed to have any neighbouring planets anymore since they were used for the construction of said structure.

This is how Sanctuary looks as of 2.2.1:

This is how ringworld systems are supposed to look like: (I know its still damaged, but you get the idea)
sanctuary3.png

For a while i tried to pretend that the species which build Sanctuary, transported all the necessary ressources from somewhere else but I couldn't stand it for too long. It just looks wrong and out of place. lol

Minor Details #2 - Missing megastructure-symbol in galaxy view
The little symbol to the right of the systems name that proclaims that a megastructure is inside misses entirely but the ringworld is still recognized as a megastructure so you cant build another system-alteriung structures like a dyson-sphere or another ringworld inside it.

This is how Sanctuary looks in galaxy-view as of 2.2.1

This is how ringworld-systems are supposed to look like: (keep the others but please add the missing one)

It would be nice if you could adress those little details while you are at it.
I am sure that the minority I belong too will be very thankfull!

thanks you for your attention!

Good old Sanctuary. Almost like seeing a old friend again. Earlier on a new game i would go observe and search for Sanctuary. If not in game would restart. I have to agree they could update the system. Was it not the only ringworld in game before megastructures?

I agree on your second point.

About this, though - there's an easy explanation: the race which built Sanctuary was far more advanced than our races so they could've built it without using all planets. For example, via starlifting.

The Materialist FE had 3, Cybrex Alpha has Always been one, and sometimes you could find a random broken one.

To the OP: I agree with Point 2, but for 1, I think it makes the System more unique, and it is explained that the creators of Sanctuary used the inner planets of the System to build it. I like to think that Sanctuary is the oldest ringworld in the Galaxy, and as such its creators simply hadnt refined the creation process enough to clear out the gas Giants and all the Tiny asteroids. But thats just my head cannon.

Yes, I really tried hard to pretend that the Ringworld has been constructed that way, but it just looks way too out of place in my opinion.
Especially for me who played from the very beginning in May 2016 and knows how it was before, the fact that planets are still around in this system, It just looks to me that it had been forgotten somewhere, which is of course reasonable considering the amount of work in all those DLC. Some things are bound to be missed.

Thats the reason of this post, to show that minor details have slipped through (the missing symbol proofs it even more) at some point and nothing will change if nobody talks about it.

There's actually a mechanical consideration to make.

The planets around the edge of the system inflate system size, allowing you to skirt around the hostile ships in the middle.

(Also I think it looks cool to have a unique ringworld system that still has planets in it)

Let me push that thread. Fix Sanctuary. Let me repair that broken part.

And one more nibble Primitives on a Ringworld can use a nuclear war and turn a ringworld segment into a tombworld.

Maybe even a fix for the Ancient Caretaker Ringworld Section? Repairing the 4th part in Alpha Complex turns the ringworld into this:

Oh, side note: Distant Stars (I think, at least- I'm not running any mods and I don't recall seeing this before then) added a ruined ringworld around a black hole with an extensive planetary system around it. Doesn't bother me in the slightest- systems like this look cool and imply interesting stories.
