it will surely outsell HoI III by quiet a margine. Not only did paradox grew alot in the past few years and thus also their fanbase, but HoI IV is also alot more accessable to new players to the franchise, since the learning curve doesnt start so steep.

Well, hearts of iron is their biggest franchise, so it is quiet possible. There is of course alot of hype going on after the long delay, but also a few people that maybe lost interest in that year (just as with star citizen for example). Then you have stellaris less than 1 month before it launched of course, which will probably occupy quiet a few people for longer than just that month, so they will probably hold back buying HoI IV while others will of course pre-order it asap. I'd say yes.

I'm not a marketing expert but I'm going to imagine that Stellaris and Hearts of Iron IV will likely sell a great deal of copies. According to steamspy Hearts of Iron III has 465,744 owners.
I'm not going to swear by steamspy but they're generally in the ballpark.
Now if we're going to play estimation EU III has 431,999 owners according to steamspy, as compared to 921,307 EU IV owners. Based on the fact Europa IV made the series a bit more mainstream because of how fun and accessible it is compared to other grand strategy titles I'm going to assume that HOI IV will do the same.

agreed. Since the hypemachine is basicly running since roughly a year and people are starving for the game it wouldnt suprise me if they break the 1 million mark with the game.

Its in their interest, and their investors, to develop a sales estimate, to among other things see what development cost is financially sane. They will probably not share it though, as it is best they keep it for themselves until after release, then perhaps they will share an estimate, if it surpasses that.
I agree that HoI4 will sell more, just be warned that for HoI3 and Eu3 Steamspy can only count the steam copies. Both of those games were sold as non-steam versions physically and on other digital stores. EU4 is not sold elsewhere, and physical copies activate on steam. However it is a reasonable assumption that the "majority" of sales of Eu3 and HoI3 were sold on Steam.
HoI 4 will sell fine, I think. And certainly more than Hoi3 due to him being more user-friendly and welcoming for beginners. Breaking sales record ? Not quite sure for this one !
Sales forecast is Sunny, with a chance of later afternoon showers. Temperate humidity and a fresh south westerly will keep the game fresh.
