I still say throw the whole thing up onto an online server, add an estate level below the counties, make everyone playable (good Republican and ecclesiastic minigames, decent Muslim representation), add on personalized names, personalized shields that half and quarter over time, and personalized castles, and MMOG it.

I even hate MMOGs and I'd sign up for that one,

it'd be cool 1 vs 1 maybe, but with too many players the waiting time would get frustated. I had some multiplayer games of Civ IV against a mate of me, and it took like 3 times as long as a single player game even though the time went by faster.. I rather have the single player of CK2 improved. Not too much graphical changes please, just more scenario's and better AI would do for me.

I have to throw my support here for a CK2...it is simply my favorite Paradox game. It has a depth that no other game has - Paradox or not. I recently bought EUIII, and although I enjoy it, I still find myself coming back to CK more and more. With the proper Paradox treatment - instead of being a inherited half-project - CK would be a spectacular game.

So, I can dream and hope for a CK2...and besides, if they did CK 2, they could turn around and milk the HoI cow afterwards. :)

I have for many times asked and was left unanswered: does anyone have concrete statistics and data on CK and Vicky sales?

I'm sure Paradox does. Ask Johan; send him a message or something. Maybe Flori would know. Don't be surprised if they don't give it to you, though; that's privileged information.

if there's any public data out there, its probably only in the Swedish business press.

media said EU III had 200,000 something unit sales soon after release, making it one of paradox biggest sellers ever.

I conjecture CK and Vikkie a fraction of this.

I'd presume the chance of Johan having the time to answer such PMs, provided they even wanted to tell the figures, is around 0,00001% and not much more for Flori either.

If there is a CK2, please, PLEASE Do Not use the EUIII engine. I hate it, graphics aren't that good and make micromanagement even harder because you can't see details that are often needed. The interface is horrible and the ai isn't that far behine....
If Paradox is going to use 3d graphics I hope they use decent ones.

I actually think the way the interface looks now is pretty good. I love paradox games because of their depth around diplomacy and general gameplay. The Ai is usualy pretty good but the only bad thing where the game lacks is the battle system because you have no control, and that's pretty much the only thing I like about MTWs, the battles. I like games where the Ai actually bits the shit out of me sometimes, not games where I can see pretty pixels that do nothing except make the game lag. Imagen if somehow one could mix both paradox's depth in diplomacy, spionage, general map gameplay/interface with MTW's battle engine. Then that game would be one for history books.

I will admit that the graphics at first is a bit off-putting but it does feel right a few games in. Ok the maps aren't as detailed (less fractal) but do suffice. IMHO the best features of EUIII are the feedback mechanism's. It is these features that are making EUIII a success compared to all other paradox titles. I am a recent paradox convert ( I bought EU1/EU2 and HOI2) knowing that if I had the time these games would be the best. It's only recently I have had that time and am now buying all other titles and splitting the time between CK/HOI2(DD)(ARM)/EU3 and no doubt will play EU2 again.
The game engine of EU3 IMHO is crying out for CK2 but the sales probably point towards HOI3? Who knows?

CK2 is more probable than HOI3. HOI2 is only 2. It's also hard to think of anything Paradox could add to make that game better -- they could make lots of small improvements, and the AI could improve; but all strategy games are like that.

Paradox had to rush CK, which is one reason there are only three tiers.

So, IMHO, CK2 is more likely than HOI3.

Aye, especially given the most recent (admittedly disastrous) expansion for HoI2, and that debacle will probably be time consuming for a while yet - I imagine there is a very busy patching schedule ahead.

And CK is a fantastic game, despite seeming thoroughly unfinished and neglected. I think PI knows this, and so I think that they're more than willing to give it another try, this time with more attention to it all (I would at least like to see two more tiers - baronies and empires - if not more, and I think that they might think as much as well). We can hope, at least.

And honorary titles. Like Prince for a King's children, or Lord for current and former cabinet members.

Diplo-vassalizing, and protection notices. I'm not gonna sit back and let Seljuks conquer my son, even if he's inherited a duchy in another realm, or rebelled against me.

Less decisive religious wars.

More inheritance laws. Tanistry would be really cool, as would a better implementation of Elective. And female inheritance.

That's why I think Paradox will do a CK2 sooner than later. I thought of all those off the top of my head. CK is a great game, and quite addicting already; but there's just so much room for improvement...

Seconded.

Another idea would be the option/chance to attack, essentially declare war, on troops marching through your territory. At least those who are your religious enemy. Ten thousand muslims touring Essex on the way to Scotland, or 10,000 christians walzing through Damascus, either way I don't see that going over well with the commoners.

Yeah... or even better: watching the Golden Horde go strolling through your realm on their way to France. Wait a second - if the average European thinks that Muslims look the way they do because they are a scourge from God, what are they going to think of men with yellowish skin, almond-shaped eyes, and languages and customs completely and totally alien to anything they have ever known or could ever dream of?

or better yet, you get right of passage only through the territory of realms with the same religion. crusaders can march from bologne to constantinople without a fight, but seljuks cannot march from antioch to magdeburg.

as for the problem of sailing and bypassing this reduction, sea zones should be associated with realms/their religion.

a crusading host on ships can't sail all around north africa without being attacked. but an egyptian host should be allowed to sail to Al-Andaluz if they stick to the north african coast.
