Greetings Pilgrims,

When a friend and I decided to build a village together we quickly ran into the problem of mismanaged space and lack of planning. We didn’t know the sizes of the next buildings we were getting and couldn’t plan ahead to fit everything together. I remembered a program, AnnoDesigner, I used to plan cities while playing Anno 2070 that I thought could help and set to work altering it for Salem.

I have finished my first attempt at making this tool work as a village planner for Salem and decided to share the files for anyone else interested in a village/claim planning tool. This tool has many of the current buildings in Salem sizes preset, along with icons to make the various buildings easy to differentiate. AnnoDesigner can save plans to edit later or output a PNG file to share with others.

Current Conversion Pack: Version 3

How to install:
1. Download Anno Designer: http://code.google.com/p/anno-designer/
2. Download Conversion Pack (link above).
3. Extract Anno Designer to location of your choice, and then extract the contents of the conversion pack to the Anno Designer folder. Overwrite files when asked.
4. Start Anno Designer, the building Presets and icons should now be those of Salem.

All of the images are now updated to proper in-game shots of them, and have been optimized for size and quality. Due to this however, the new pack is almost 2mb. While doing this I also tried to adjust them so there would not be that annoying clipping anymore while placing new buildings; let me know if I missed any clipping issues.

Note: I have yet to add the following buildings that are in the game due to a lack of a decent screenshot of them or unknown size:
• Blazing Brazier
• Boundary Stone
• Cauldron
• Cross of Saint George
• Stamp Mill

Changelog:
V1:
• Initial Release

V2:
• Unreleased update which added more buildings

V3:
• Added more buildings, including Turkey Coop and Simple Stove
• All images are how they look in game, no longer icons.
• Added some extra presets I found handy
• Vertical options for items that would clip before
• Clipping of all images should be reduced or eliminated
Note: Due to how AnnoDesigner saves plans and a change in the naming scheme I used, these new images will *not* appear on older plans. They will only work for all plans created from now on.

I would like to thank ZackSchneider for creating AnnoDesigner.

Is there a way to combine with map images?
I would have to say no, there would be no real way to calculate size on the map, especially these randomly generated maps. In any case this program doesn't include any such feature to even attempt to try it sorry.

Thanks.

Actually it is quite easy. One pixel on the map is equal to one square meter in the game. One tile in the game is equal to one pixel.

Are you running windows XP? I know there is a known issue with XP at the moment, otherwise you could check if the AnnoDesigner has any other reported issues that match yours. The developer is planning to release an update to fix the XP issue and some others, so maybe that will help.

I don't know of another program that offers the same ability, this is the only one I have used in the past.

Oh wow OnionFight, you seem to be completely correct. I had a plan designed for my current homestead so I thought I would test your idea. I made a picture of my home area with the maptool provided by dymm on this forum, http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?605616-Map-tool-for-Ender-s-client , and then exported a image of my homestead. I quickly edited the image of my homestead to resize the image to the size of 1 pixel = 1 square, and pasted the new small image onto the map. Sure enough it exactly fit over my homestead.

My programming skills are not up to par to do this automatically, I just adjusted the file where presets were stored in this program, but your wish to have it placed on a map can be done with just a couple minutes of photo editing.

Thanks for pointing this out man,

Amnis

I'm running vista. I downloaded the previous version of anno designer and it runs fine. Guess I stick with it for now. Thanks for the links Amnis.

I'm glad to help. This sounds like it might be a useful program.

Looking at the screenshots, I think that one problem might be that buildings aren't necessarily aligned to the grid, and can be rotated in many different directions.

how do u download the conversion pack? having clicked ur link, there isnt a way to download it
Still seems to be working for me. On the site that opens up there are a few options, mainly three big buttons in the middle of the screen "Buy Now", "Download", and "Save". Click the green download button in the middle box with a floating down arrow. That will do it.

Hope that helps,

I don't use a mouse, is their a way I change the controls so I can rotate items? Not really important, just want things to look nicer.

It would appear that your Version 3 link has gone missing. As of this posting, it comes up with a File not Found error page.
