  • Crusader Kings II
Hello so I decided to explore the new Asia in the new Art of War update. I love the new map btw. Anyways I decided to play as Japan. I united all of Japan as the emperor. Colonized all my way up to the cape so I can westernize from lands I took from Portugal. And I started getting the western trade events where my provinces randomly convert to Catholicism. So I try to
enact the Sakoku Law decision, but it doesnt do anything anymore. I spend the points but it does nothing. It worked in my previous playthroughs as Japan, but not now. So I tried to let
rebels take me over so I could just convert and be done with it but that doesn't really work anymore either. I am not playing iron man so I could use console commands but I'm not sure if you can use that to change religion. But as it stands with the Fumi-ii event constantly popping up and no way out of it. Japan is unplayable.

If necessary you can send a missionary to province, then use console commands to set the progress to 100 so it finishes instantly regardless of it you normally had enough strength to convert the province.

Japan is pretty broken since the patch. Because you can now use your vassals claims to declare war, which means you can use your vassal daimyo's claims to declare on other daimyo. Meaning you can unite Japan a lot easier.

I have found a way to fix Sakoku law (at least for me).

1. Search for folder JapaneseNation in your game instalation folder.
2. Find the line

# Sakoku
.....
effect ={
......
every_subject_country = {
.......

3.change
every_subject_country
into
every_country
4.save and exit
5.play game and profit :)
