Just wrapping up a game as Hosokawa where I was going for Sakoku Law. I'd missed this achievement in a previous Japan game, so I was extremely careful to always choose the Isolationist options for all events. I've now had 5 events happen, and the counter on the achievement is still sitting at 3/6.

Is this achievement broken, or is there some RNG over the outcomes of the event that I'm unaware of? I see a few threads from a few years ago that also bring up this question, but I figured if there were a bug it would have been fixed by now.

Check tooltip for achievement and it will tell you what you are missing. Ie hover with cursor over 3/6.

PS according to tour screenshot I only can see 5 incidents done.

Were extra incidents perhaps added at some point which don't count towards this achievement?

If I remember correctly the Christianity one doesn't count.

Quoting from the wiki:
By "going full isolationist" the game is NOT referring to the level of isolationism in your country. Rather, it's referring to the fact that each incident has an outcome of either open, neutral, or isolationist. To get the achievement you must get the isolationist outcome of 6 incidents.
Looks like this is the issue.

"Level of isolationism" refers to this modifier you get based on your responses to incidents.

I'm inclined to believe that some of the incidents just "don't count" which seems like a bug to me.
I am aware of Isolationism level. The wiki quote means that this level is to be completely ignored, and quoting it once again:
By "going full isolationist" the game is NOT referring to the level of isolationism in your country. Rather, it's referring to the fact that each incident has an outcome of either open, neutral, or isolationist. To get the achievement you must get the isolationist outcome of 6 incidents.

I am certain that I have chosen the isolationist options for every event relating to the incidents.
Unless there's an RNG to which outcome you get, then I don't see how I could have gotten a non-isolationist outcome.

I did a little digging and found another forum post from 1.29.22.

Sounds like the choice descriptions on some of the events are incorrectly worded and don't push isolationism in the correct direction (specifically with the firearms incident).

The wiki page for "Shinto Events" also has some good resources to cross reference the exact effect that each decision has on the isolation counter. Based on the open/isolated outcome thresholds of each incidents, the "sharply isolationist" choices rather than just the "isolationist" choices are probably required to get the isolationist outcome.

Can't wait to do yet another Japan run, reading the wiki with a magnifying glass for each decision, for this achievement o_Oo_Oo_O
Gotta say Basileus was less of a headache lol
