For anyone looking for advice on the Saint Thomas's Dream achievement.

First, the achievement details: "Requires the provinces of a held kingdom or empire outside your realm to be Christian. The kingdom or empire must be in the India region."

Here are the steps I took, and a screenshot of the final state I used to get it to fire:
  • Start as the Raj of Pandya Nadu in 769.
  • Change your laws to allow for title revocation.
  • Make the Thakur of Mahodayapuram rebel against you, so you can defeat him, and revoke his title.
  • Next, move your capital to Mahodayapuram, which has the Nestorian religion at game start.
  • You need 1000 prestige to convert to Nestorian, so fill the time by fabricating claims and attacking Maldives and Sri Lanka.
  • The achievement requires you to completely control an Indian Kingdom, so I decided to beat up on Lanka, since they only have 5 de jure provinces in that kingdom.
  • If you mis-read the achievement like me, and created the kingdom of Tamilakam first, then wondered why the achievement didn't fire, don't worry. You can Holy War the Buddhist rulers of Lanka without anyone else on the sub-continent joining in.
  • After taking the last province of Lanka, the achievement still didn't fire.
  • So I switched my primary Kingdom title to Lanka, let a few weeks tick off, then switched it back to a primary title of KIngdom Tamilakam. The let a few more weeks tick off. Then the achievement finally fired. Not sure if the title switching helped, or if I just need to let a full month pass before Steam got updated.

Enjoy!

should work just fine with other start dates.

Mahodayapuram is a holy site of Nestorian (IRL there's the burial site of the apostle St. Thomas after whom the achievement is named ;) )
you can always secretly convert to a religion if you have a county with a holy site of that religion in your demesne. and then you can just openly adopt the secret religion with another decision

Thanks for the tip. How do you get the "Secretly convert to...." option for owning a holy site?

I tried firing up a new game and messing with console commands to immediately give me the Nestorian holy site, and then extra prestige and piety, but I still only see the usual Rajas-of-India DLC decision to convert to the religion of your capital county.

The only time I remember seeing the secret conversion option is when I join the Assassins, or when I marry someone with another reformed faith. I tried clicking on the holy site temple or capital county directly, and I don't see the secret conversion option listed (not even greyed out).

I assume I am looking in the wrong place, or this option is disabled when the Rajas DLC is active. I also have the Secret Religious Cults game rule de-activated, but that hasn't stopped me from being secret Shia in the Assassins multiple times.

Let me know what I am missing here.

I got it in my Roman world conquest campaign before Holy Fury. But it seems to be bugged. I didn't have to convert the provinces. They were converted to Islam by the previous owner and apparently that counted. They just need to be something other than an Indian religion.

How do you get the "Secretly convert to...." option for owning a holy site? Right-click on the county shield:
https://ck2.paradoxwikis.com/Religious_conversion#From_secret_religion

Sorry for being dense, but when I right-click on the county shield for the Nestorian Holy Site, all I see are the below options. The menu looks looks the same when I click on the county shield in the holdings screen. Just to experiment, I consoled myself 5000 gold, 5000 prestige, and 5000 piety, and enabled secret religious cults. What am I doing wrong?

Mhh, weird. I tried this as a Muslim in Jerusalem and it works there. Also tried as King of Denmark to Germanic. But it doesn't seem to work in that county Indian county.
You also don't need the 250 piety for the option to show up. Being zealous doesn't prevent it either for some reason

You're also supposed to be able to convert to a demense county's religion. So it should work for two reasons

I also started up a game as the Sunni Emir of Jerusalem, and I see those "secret convert" options right where the CK2 wiki said they should be.

So, do you think this is worthy of a bug report?

i noticed too that the option doesn't show up in that county.

at first i thought it might be a special rule for the dharmic religions (since they have a special option to change between hindu/buddha/jain), but then i used a catholic woman (random courtier invited through bribe & buy favor) as concubine to flip catholic and it still doesn't show up.

doesn't seem to be related to the (relative) unimportance / probably low moral authority of nestorian - the option to convert to nestorian shows up when you load up the ruler of jerusalem just fine (among many others)

not sure why. could be bugged or intentional. or some special rule i'm not aware of :)

Usually I hate when people make false bug reports about obvious things they don't understand, but this might be worth one. I tried converting to Buddhists and Jain holy sites and provinces as Hindu and that works. So it's not some Indian limitation
