For you SAG lovers and/or experts... what about the many brigades you can attach to your surface ships? Improved Hull, AA guns, etc... are they worthy/fun to use or are they completely useless as I suspect?

P.S.: I know that you need only 15 CV/15 DD to win against everything, I just love battleships, even if they are worthless junk of the past. Long live worthless junks.

I'm with you here. I play smaller nations so SAGs are usually my only option, usually with just heavy cruisers. Anyway, Torpedoes, Fire Control, Radar, Floatplanes are all very useful. I'm sure AA are helpful too but I've reduced the naval attack for NAV while increasing AA for my surface ships so I don't attach them. Keep in mind that they do nothing when engaging CVs. I do put them on CVs when I ever have the chance to build one. I can't speak for Improved Hull though, probably a good idea if you have a heavy BB or CV fleet but it would be the last of my choices.

I like to mix it up and to keep it historical. I usually start a '39 or '14 scenario and keep what ships I have on the production line, and what fleets I have in their historical composition. I'll change up Admirals or add attachments... or a few ships at the most.

Smaller specialised units, a lot of attachments, and the entire airforce are sometimes regarded as "whatever" when viewed from a German/Soviet player's stand point, where you have hundreds of divisions. But I like to think there's some real value in creating a specialised fleet that can do what you need it to do at a low IC and time cost.

I like to think it would make you a better real life admiral and better at logistics.

I use fire control, torpedoes, floatplanes, radar and improved hull. Minus hull on battlecruisers. Heavy cruisers depend on if they can join the line of battle or not, if they can I use torpedoes, fire control and floatplanes. If they can't, I guess I use radar, improved hull and floatplanes.
