I noticed that when I take a holding in war, I get money (like the old "sack city" feature in CK1) but does an equivalent amount of gold come out of the enemy's coffers?

As to the proposal -- when a holding is stormed by an enemy army, should the level of walls be reduced by one? In a siege I can see everything being passed on intact, but when you take it by storm, I kind of picture some holes being knocked in the walls, don't you?

Most walls were quite easily repaired. Since enemies could only really poke holes into the wall. You'd just need to fill those holes again.

This is represented by the fact that the levy and garrison are depleted when you conquer the holding and win the siege. The refilling of the garrison represents the rebuilding of the defensive structures and the manning of the walls.

Most walls were destroyed by the conquerer if they decided to take the wall down AFTER they had conquered the city already and forbade the city from having a wall thus tearing it down. But this is after the fact they had conquered it. Walls themselves rarely got demolished untill gunpowder age...and even then they just shot holes into it...

Regarding your first question, I think that, when I have lost a holding of my own, I have also lost money, so I assume the same will be for the AI.

Regarding your first question, I think that, when I have lost a holding of my own, I have also lost money, so I assume the same will be for the AI.

Indeed, and when you're just at 6 gold and with -2 per month due to mercs and are quite close to winning... my oh my does it sting when 10 to 20 gold just flow out. Specially if it's a province you recently recaptured and hence only has token garrison being repaired.

Recently conquered reflects the local population being upset about a foreign lord conquering them, which is why they won't pay taxes, serve in the army, and peasant revolts are more likely

The thing I'm suggesting would only apply to holdings that were raided and not sieged out.it could last just a month or so to reflect repairs taking place

If you lose your own holding and take it back a week later you get the recently conquered penalty, which really makes no sense.

But atleast you don't get a foreign culture/religion penalty...unless ofcourse it is a foreign province :(

It's only like 5 years if its the same culture/religion. Thats quite reasonable considering you sacked and burned the whole province to the ground if it were real history.

Needing to refill the garrison means you wont be getting levies out of it for a while, and you already lost gold on the sack, so what this adds is questionable.
