Yeah.. I also edit savegames, alot. But mostly it is to either: Make borders look better, add some roleplay (i.e. I give a country I'd like to see gain power a super-king, switch provinces, release countries, change character names to dynastical names etc) or just make the game harder. Sure, it has happened that I when playing a tribe and get attacked by Rome load the game as Rome and disband their army. I never do so to get an easier game (like if I want to kill egypt as SE but it takes sooo long time to siege so I just load and disband their armies, that's a no-no), just to let myself survive, forcing a white peace/tribute in this example, against overwhelming enemies. Oh, if the AI is embroiled in a never-ending civil war, I usually step in and fix it up, too.

On the other hand, it's up to everyone to decide how they want to play the game. If you want to cheat? Sure, go ahead. Just don't let everybody know how godly you are, atleast not without saying that you actually cheated.

It's your game play it the way you enjoy most
Of course you can play with yourself in any way you please, just have the good manners not to tell the rest of us what you're up to! In all seriousness, the main danger to the hobby from bitch boys is that many of them bitch so loudly that a game is too hard or complicated that it's dumbed down and made easier in the next edition/patch, to the detriment of the real players. This was the case in Gothic 3 (compared to 2), Heroes Of Might & Magic 4 (compared to 3), NWN (compared to Baldur's Gate 2), Championship Manager, successive Elder Scrolls and so on. Perhaps they should have their own sub forum called Cheats Corner.

Somebody has just invented the wheel... Being able to save the game, quit, reload and play again as a different country was obvious in all Paradox titles. Ever. As well as possibility of taking advantage of this feature. So what's it all about? Should we expect SaboTech2 which will enlighten us how to cheat ourselves in one-man chess game?

I've got another cheat! It's called ChronoTech!!!! It's a quick way of getting a lot of provinces WITHOUT having to fight many long wars! And it's super easy! Just start your game in 1602 and choose to play as Rome and BAMMM you've got a huge territory already! Sweet!

Jokes aside, I have nothing against singleplayer cheating, especially in a game like this. But seriously, did he just start a new thread teaching us how to save and restart the game as another country?

Excuse me while I repeatedly drop my jaw in awe of his pure genius.

I used to use your technique, but then I sucked up, tried my best, and accepted the consequences, even if that means ceding a province or two. You learn some things from MP.

... Some people are ignorant. That's why I posted it. In fact, speaking of ignorant people, I'm surprised you even knew about it uly. Some people just don't know some common things and I got bored and was tryin to be helpful. Another thing uly, I've noticed that everything I post, you have something negative to say. As far as we know you don't own a Paradox game. What happened to your icons?

Let's relax a little bit here. If you want to have a fight, please use the private messages rather than clogging the forums with personal venom. The moderator just told you to go to separate corners. He can put you out of the ring by banning you if he so desires.

Well, I just wanted to point out that he follows me around the forum, seeking out my posts and threads just to analyze and negate. I apologize for my outburst. I was just trying to help the newbies out with this thread. I apologize for that as well. Now I know that it's not acceptable.

Yes, not only do I follow you around, everybody follow everybody around here. The EUR forum is only so big.

You said yourself that folks in Paradox forums are pretty civil, and that's because people here have the humour and good sense to not taking things personally. I don't hide the fact that I find this thread ridiculously funny, but I'm only reacting to what you said and never made any personal attacks.

But do feel free to PM me for personal attacks, or photo of my EUR CD, or MP challenge, or uberadvanced l33t cheatTech tips.

Then you won't mind me following you around uly...
Only if you address me properly by putting my name in bold.

EDIT:
Just ignore him. It's the best thing to do in a situation like this.
That's good advice. But I see that my sarcastic admission that I follow him around may have been misunderstood, so forgive me just a bit longer while I try to clear up my name.

CTCMSouthern: The only other thread where I've made any "analyze and negate" post to you is your go-buy-VV-now thread. No I do not follow you around. Nobody follows you around. Not here on this forum anyway. Please stop making utterly unfounded accusations, to me or to anyone.

To everyone else: Sorry about the piss slinging. I'll refrain from further posting in this thread.

I'm not sure if everyone's discovered this technique that I call SaboTech yet so if you haven't... Here it is! (Just trying to share it with those who haven't) It's actually quite obvious! Ha!

This can be used to gain provinces through war to build up your empire, defend you empire from enemies that have declared war on you (including rebels), ruin rival countries to put you ahead of them, and attain peace terms that benefit you immensely!

Steps to winning any war and sabotaging rival countries:

Step 1 - If you want more provinces, pause the game and declare war then save. If someone has declared war on you or civil war has begun, pause ASAP then save the game. If you just feel like ruining a nation that overshadows you by causing civil war and other mischief just pause and save. If you have conquered all the provinces of a country but they won't accept your outrageous peace terms, pause and save (make sure they don't have an envoy in your nation when you save. If they do, wait until they don't then save.)

Step 2 - Resign from your game and return to the PLAY map screen. Click on Saved Games and load the game you just saved for the Sabotage Technique. Select not your country but your target country. Begin.

Step 3 - You can begin sabotaging your enemy; their are many ways to do so. You can ruin their diplomatic relations by dissolving their alliances and declaring war on their closest friends. This puts them alone and helpless. You can disband all their armies and navies (allows you to conquer their provinces untested) and imprison and execute their best military leaders and statesmen. This can cause civil war for them as well. Also, you can empty their treasury by ordering the creation of units then canceling the order repeatedly. You can also use SaboTech to get lots of tribute. All of this can be done in a single day by just keeping your game paused. If you have won a war but the enemy refuses your terms, then use their country to submit the same terms. Of course your country will accept (it benefits them totally)!

Step 4 - Watch the world burn as your empire grows and conquers! You basically become invincible! Enjoy!

Requesting Sticky

This is a rare gem of a find you sir are a genius!, I can only marvel and wonder at such an incredible tactic!.
