I still don't understand all these flames about DLC.

EUIV already has songs titled "Battle of Breitenfeld" , "At the Gates of Constantinople" and "The Grand Armada". Are they "neutral"?

Apparently it counts as neutral as long as there's no text, or as long as it's not a specific genre of music. I guess.

What makes this extra funny is that Sabatons songs are pretty neutral and they've made songs about most of the major participants of WW2, even including the Germans. And even Carolus Rex portrays the Swedes as the antagonists in some of the songs.

It's kind of funny that Sabaton fans are insulted as nationalists and childish people. Didn't know that listening to songs about historic events make you more or less childish or nationalistic. The counter argument of HeyHoCptJack why his mentioned song isn't in a song (I know it wasn't very serious) is still quite flawed. The Sabaton songs are in English -> this is way more community friendly than songs in other languages as the mentioned one. Just don't buy the DLC if you don't like them.. You really don't lose anything with the release of the music box if you don't buy it. Based on the likes/dislikes in the comments I can see that Sabaton was the right pick for Paradox since a lot of fans are hyped to get those songs in the playlist. I personally hate to listen to most kinds of electronic music for example but I couldn't care less if Paradox releases a DLC with such music... I simply wouldn't buy it.

I personally would love a Sabaton music pack as I have been listening to them recently after discovering them in a Spotify playlist someone made for use when playing EU4. I wouldn't consider myself a metal fan but the historical aspect of Sabatons music draws me in. Just don't buy the music DLC if you don't think it would "Fit" your play style.

I'm always for more content. They are not "putting them into the game", they are offering an option to have their music in the game. I wouldn't mind having music packs for the entire Spotify library - is this is where this leads, where's the problem?

Sabatons only songs that's fitting for the timeframe of EU4 is about the Swedish Empire, Cossacks is an eastern themed DLC, not sure how it fits to be honest, and it's rather distinguishing from the ambient tracks Paradox has released beforehand.

That (Carolus Rex) entire album sounds to me as a condemnation of (at least) continuous warfare. And the track itself reads less like a fans raving than a somewhat sarcastic comment on the delusions of the king (though I admit, that might be reading everything with a sarcastic tint
)The first lines: "All embrace me it's my time to rule at last; Fifteen years have I been waiting to sit upon my throne; No allegiance I will swear no oath; Crowned by god not by the church as my power is divine" I can FEEL the mocking air-quotes.

You are getting worked up about a non-issue though. It takes almost no dev time to build a music mod, so it's not a matter of resources. Players are not forced to install or indeed buy the DLC either, so it's not a matter of personal preference either. They had a chance to get the rights, the previous Metal DLCs sold well, there are quite a few metal fans in the community - why not use it to make a music pack?

Those tracks are ambient, and the name of the tracks is flavoured according to many different countries. Sabaton is pretty much only singing about western wars.

Oh, ambient. Flavoured according to many different countries. Funny. "Lion from the North" is the song about the Battle of Breitenfeld. But this song is from Sabaton. So it is bad. Really funny.

Not much. Hence why it's a separate music DLC. If they'd publish the Sabaton DLC a week or two after Cossacks, would you be sated?

Nothing. That's kinda the point. There is no connection, except possibly some coincidence in release dates. How is it important?
